00:00 What's the latest on the rumour mill?
00:07 Cross-court brand rumour mill links, we've seen it for quite a few weeks now. It continues
00:14 to rumble on as there are managerial vacancies elsewhere. We've seen links to Burnley, which
00:20 are a little bit cooler than the links to Leicester. We see repeatedly on a daily basis
00:25 that he's their number one target and they're very keen on him. Nothing has been confirmed
00:29 as of yet. It was reported earlier this week that Albin's compensation would be between
00:33 about £3.5m and £4m. Should Leicester make a move? Should Albin fans be quite pleased
00:42 that nothing concrete has come out yet? Or is it a case that Albin aren't out of the
00:48 woods yet and they could do with this being wrapped up ASAP?
00:52 You've summarised it all well there, Johnny. Dare I say a bit of both realistically. But
01:00 at the time of speaking, without wanting to give away exactly when we're speaking, but
01:06 at the time of the middle of this week that we're speaking and when I've been able to
01:10 check in with one or two people just regards where this is and the state of play. You get
01:16 reports, you get social media soundbites and clicks all over the place and everyone's
01:20 a little bit het up and frantic about rumours involving Carlos leaving. But when I checked
01:26 it out, there's been no official contact and Albin are optimistic, hopeful that there won't
01:33 be and the plans are very much in place for next season. As you would expect, I gather
01:37 Carlos is away on holiday. I know we've said previously a few weeks ago he was away. Well,
01:42 he's still away and not due back at the training ground for a little while. But been nothing.
01:47 I saw one report earlier this week stating talks had taken place. Well, look, things
01:55 in the background, I'm not for a second saying that people of Carlos' team, agents, representatives,
02:01 all of that that we don't see and is more under wraps, there haven't been conversations.
02:05 That just happens in football. But in terms of official moves, official talks, nothing
02:09 has happened. Of course, it would require permission from the club themselves. That
02:13 hasn't happened. There's been no approach. So that's where that is at the moment. Do
02:18 I doubt for a second that Carlos is on some sort of Leicester shortlist or admired by
02:23 the Foxes or maybe even further as one of their options? I certainly imagine he appeared
02:31 on a shortlist because why wouldn't he when you look down into the Championship at the
02:35 top performing bosses, he's right there, isn't he? But I also suspect I've heard one or two
02:40 things about other options Leicester are focused on and zoning in on. So, yeah, that's where
02:46 that is at the moment, Jonny. I mean, I can't sit here and say that it's not going to happen
02:51 for definite. It depends how the Leicester search plays out, doesn't it? If Leicester's
02:57 target doesn't happen, if second target doesn't happen, we might come to a stage where things
03:04 are more likely and the pitch is different. But again, as you said, compensation and Albion
03:08 are well placed, aren't they, in terms of a fee that would be required for that ball
03:16 to start rolling with Carlos, then it would obviously take talks. Would Paul Brown want
03:20 it? Well, it's hard to turn down a move to the Premier League, isn't it? But yeah, that's
03:26 what could. Obviously, we can't say for definite that that's not going to happen. But as it
03:31 is now, everything is geared towards Carlos remaining as head coach at Albion where he's
03:35 contracted to 2027. He's working hard with plans. I say he's away, he's obviously still
03:41 working in contact with the likes of Ian Pearce, the head of football ops at Albion as plans
03:47 are very much put in place for 2024/25. As we're speaking now, the transfer window doesn't
03:54 open for some time, Jonny, but you've got to get your ducks in a row, haven't you, to
03:59 start making approaches, pitches to take lone players and conversations with free agents.
04:05 So all of that's going on, as far as I understand. And yeah, absolutely nothing official at all
04:09 from Leicester. And yeah, from everyone's point of view and perspective at Albion, the
04:17 hope is that that stays that way.
