00:00Wales has been a solid recycling nation for some time. We've consistently been ranked
00:05in the top 5 or 10 countries in the world in terms of recycling rates for the last few
00:09decades, but now we've taken it one step further. Wales is now officially the second
00:15best recycler in the world, only behind Austria according to the Global Recycling League table.
00:21Both Wales and Austria hit 59% recycling rates, so Wales were agonisingly close to first place.
00:28And with the new workplace recycling schemes in place over the last few months, there is
00:31a hope that we could take the top spot the next time the league tables are announced.
00:36Other UK nations also ranked relatively highly, with Northern Ireland in 9th, England in 11th
00:41and Scotland in 15th.
00:43First Minister Vaughan Gething said it was only with the hard work of businesses and
00:48households across the country that means Wales continues to do so well in recycling, but
00:53Tory leader Andrew R.T. Davies said that recycling was still too confusing in Wales.
