00:00 The price of liquefied petroleum gas or LPG is now high.
00:04 Energy efficient appliances are being used as an alternative to cooking.
00:10 It's cheaper and safer to use.
00:13 First news, JP Soriano.
00:15 One LPG that Filipinos usually use for cooking
00:23 is the one that is associated with high inflation rate in May.
00:27 And because it's being imported, the price of LPG will not go down in the next few years.
00:34 In one of the discussions in the Asia Clean Energy Forum,
00:38 energy efficient appliances are being used as an alternative to cooking.
00:44 According to ADB, there is a study that says it's more economical
00:50 in long-term use and has better thermal efficiency.
00:54 It means you will use less time to cook.
01:03 And at the same time, it's safer because unlike LPG,
01:08 I would recommend a multi-cooker.
01:11 Because you can cook rice there, you can boil milk,
01:18 you can do that in less time.
01:21 All our experience in every country we work with is that
01:25 energy efficient electric cooking is cheaper in urban locations,
01:31 urban and connected locations,
01:36 than paying for charcoal, LPG, kerosene, even ethanol.
01:43 According to the Energy Department, LPG can be saved
01:48 if, for example, meat is softened,
01:51 but it's better to use an automatic or electronic ignition system
01:56 to save up to 40 to 50% on gas.
02:00 The forum also discussed renewable energy and energy efficiency
02:05 or saving on electricity,
02:08 especially now that it's running out because of the declining supply in the country.
02:15 Outside the ADB building in Mandaluyong City,
02:18 militant groups and environmental groups
02:21 marched to the Asia Clean Energy Forum.
02:26 They appealed to stop the funding of private companies
02:31 to companies that provide expensive and renewable energy,
02:35 which are most affected by the poor Filipinos.
02:39 If the ADB is serious about providing clean energy to the whole of Asia,
02:45 it should shift its investment to projects like renewable energy,
02:51 clean energy, and non-expensive energy.
02:54 But according to the ADB,
02:57 this is not what the Asia Clean Energy Forum is advocating.
03:01 In fact, the ADB committed to the Asia Clean Energy Forum
03:06 for energy financing of 2 billion US dollars
03:11 to help with climate mitigation,
03:14 like funding for various renewable energy projects.
03:19 This is the first news.
