Decathlon, a sports store located in Stockport, partnered with Soul Padel to host a beginner-friendly introduction to the much talked about sport. The sport is described as a combination between squash and tennis.

Originating in Mexico in the 1960s, the sport is usually played in doubles on an enclosed court which is one third of the size of a tennis court. The ball can bounce off of any wall but can only hit the turf once before being returned.

00:00 Decathlon Stockport has partnered with Soul Paddle to introduce this trending sport to Manchester.
00:06 Paddle is a fusion between tennis and squash and was first formed in the 1960s.
00:12 Soul Paddle brought down coach Angel Reno from Madrid to give out his top tips for new players.
00:20 I spoke to some of these players who have actually fell in love with the sport.
00:26 I've come down to paddle today, never done anything like this before, really really fun. The coaching has been absolutely amazing as well.
00:31 I'm definitely going to try and play when I move to Manchester as well.
00:34 I've never actually done paddle before, it was my first time.
00:37 But it was really nice to have a professional trainer, I think he's from Madrid here.
00:41 I wasn't great, I'm not going to lie, but it's really got me into it and I'd like to give it another go.
00:46 So I'll probably come back and try it again.
00:48 It's been sick. I actually thought I was going to be really bad at paddle but I wasn't as bad as I thought I was going to be.
00:54 But it was fun, we had a professional trainer here.
00:56 The vibes were good, there's quite a few people that have come down, there's DJ, food, so there's quite a bit going on.
01:01 But yeah, it's definitely got me into paddle, I think I'll definitely be coming back.
01:04 With music and goodies available for the players, the vibes were great.
01:09 I can definitely see why this sport is trending at the moment and I think it'll be the sport of the summer.
01:16 I'm Pocka Dittnall, reporting for Manchester World.
