00:00 "Wait, what's happening?
00:01 Look!
00:02 Who are you people?"
00:03 [SCREAMING]
00:05 "What's going on?"
00:06 Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:08 And today, we're looking at the voices behind 10
00:10 of the emotions in Inside Out 2, and where you've
00:12 seen or heard them before.
00:14 "We are just super jazzed to be here.
00:16 Where can I put my stuff?"
00:19 Number 10, June Squibb nostalgia as Kate Grant, Nebraska.
00:24 "Remember when we all finally came up to headquarters?"
00:27 "Nostalgia."
00:28 "That was like 30 seconds ago, nostalgia."
00:31 "Yeah, those were the days."
00:33 Nostalgia usually doesn't hit people hard
00:35 until their 20s and beyond.
00:37 Of course, you're never too old to miss something or someone.
00:40 With Riley at another turning point,
00:42 the other emotions have their first brush with nostalgia,
00:46 voiced by June Squibb.
00:47 While this character actress has been active for decades,
00:50 her big break came during her 80s
00:52 when she starred in Alexander Payne's Nebraska,
00:55 receiving an Oscar nomination.
00:57 "Have you lost your marbles too?
01:00 Get your father out of your car this goddamn instant.
01:05 You need to help me.
01:07 I'm the one does all the work around here."
01:10 In a film so bleak it had to be shot in black and white,
01:13 Squibb's Kate is a constant source of humor.
01:16 "He wanted in my pants too."
01:18 She may share too much information,
01:20 but when defending her loved ones,
01:22 you'll be glad she always speaks her mind.
01:24 "I don't believe the nerve of you people.
01:27 Usually a person has to die before the vultures
01:29 start circling."
01:30 Although Kate has lived a full life,
01:32 there's still plenty of life left in her.
01:36 Number nine, Lisa Lepira, discussed as Robin.
01:40 Don't trust the B in Apartment 23.
01:43 Reportedly due to a pay dispute, Mindy Kaling
01:46 opted not to reprise her role as discussed.
01:48 "Riley is acting so weird.
01:50 Why is she acting so weird?"
01:51 For the sequel, Pixar turned to Lisa Lepira,
01:54 who's popped up in various crime dramas.
01:56 Her best comedic work was arguably
01:58 on the tragically short-lived Don't Trust
02:01 the B in Apartment 23.
02:03 In the pilot, Lepira's Robin delivers the title drop,
02:06 although the B isn't bleeped.
02:08 "Are you here for the roommate posting?"
02:10 "Oh, yes.
02:10 In fact, I--"
02:11 "Don't trust the B in Apartment 23."
02:13 Despite resorting to foul language,
02:16 Robin is obsessed with her former roommate,
02:18 Chloe, so much so that she moves to Apartment 21.
02:22 "How's it feel being on the short end of the stick, huh?"
02:25 "Yeah."
02:26 "It's payback time, b----."
02:27 While Robin may never be more than a blip
02:30 in Chloe's self-absorbed universe,
02:32 she becomes a welcome addition to this ensemble piece,
02:35 with Lepira upgraded from a guest
02:36 to a series regular in the second and unfortunately
02:39 last season.
02:41 "But I was just happy to split a pot pie with Chloe."
02:44 Number eight, Adele Exakupulos, Ennui as Adele.
02:48 Blue is the warmest color.
02:50 Those who didn't spend French class looking at their phones
02:52 will know that "ennui" translates to "boredom."
02:55 "That's ennui."
02:57 "Enn-what?"
02:58 "It's what you would call the boredom."
03:01 This new emotion is voiced by French actress Adele
03:04 Exakupulos.
03:05 It may be a coincidence, but we're
03:07 willing to wager that Ennui's indigo color is
03:10 a nod to Exakupulos' most beloved film.
03:13 Exakupulos garnered a worldwide acclaim for her performance
03:16 as Adele in the love story Blue is the Warmest Color.
03:19 [SPEAKING FRENCH]
03:20 [SPEAKING FRENCH]
03:28 Adele gets caught up in a passionate romance
03:31 with Lea Seydoux's Emma, who stands out
03:33 with striking blue hair.
03:35 The film's success largely rests on the shoulders of the two
03:38 leads.
03:38 Adele perhaps evolves the most throughout the year's
03:41 spanning story as a young woman coming out of her shell,
03:44 embracing her sexuality on the road to independence.
03:47 [SPEAKING FRENCH]
03:50 Number seven, Tony Hale, Fear, as Forky, Toy Story 4.
03:55 Like Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader won't return
03:58 as Fear in Inside Out 2.
04:00 Sure, it's the coward's way out, but this coward's
04:02 going to survive.
04:03 The role thus went on to Tony Hale,
04:10 who's no stranger to Pixar.
04:12 The comedic actor received an Annie nomination
04:15 for voicing eating utensil-turned-plaything Forky
04:18 in Toy Story 4.
04:19 Uh, trash.
04:21 No, no, no.
04:22 That's the trash.
04:23 These are your friends.
04:25 [SPEAKING FRENCH]
04:27 Hale was already known for playing overanxious characters
04:30 like Buster Bluth and Gary Walsh,
04:32 making him an ideal fit for a spork who
04:35 believes he belongs in the trash rather than a toy
04:37 box through Woody.
04:39 Forky realizes his self-worth seeing
04:42 how much he matters to Bonnie.
04:43 Fear is a somewhat similar role.
04:45 Live without fear is a popular phrase,
04:48 but when danger is charging towards you,
04:50 fear can be an essential emotion to hold onto, not throw away.
04:54 I will explain everything.
04:58 How am I alive?
05:01 I don't know.
05:06 Number six, Paul Walter Hauser, Embarrassment,
05:10 as Stingray, Cobra Kai.
05:12 What's your name, big fella?
05:14 That's Embarrassment.
05:15 Some people turn red with Embarrassment.
05:17 On the inside, though, they may be turning pink.
05:20 At least that's the case for Riley,
05:22 whose Embarrassment is voiced by Paul Walter Hauser.
05:25 This versatile actor has appeared
05:27 in a wide range of movies and shows as of late.
05:30 His most recognizable role is likely Raymond Porter,
05:33 a.k.a. Stingray, on Cobra Kai.
05:35 As Karate makes a comeback, Stingray
05:37 finds himself in a class of younger students.
05:40 How much younger?
05:41 Let's just say Stingray is the only one old enough
05:44 to remember the '80s.
05:45 Some might find this embarrassing,
05:47 but Stingray is either too oblivious or just in denial.
05:51 But, sensei, I'm one of the guys, you know?
05:56 You will never be Cobra Kai.
05:59 You get that?
06:01 That isn't until he gets an emotional beating
06:03 from John Kreese and a physical one from Terry Silver.
06:06 That stings.
06:08 Number five, Louis Black, Anger, as Professor Crawley.
06:13 The Big Bang Theory.
06:14 This comedian has based much of his career around heated rants.
06:18 Who better to voice the embodiment of anger
06:20 and inside out?
06:21 Is that feeling in the back of your head
06:23 when you stub your toe or you end up stuck in traffic
06:26 or have your dinner interrupted by a telemarketer?
06:30 While primarily known for his stand-up and daily show duties,
06:33 Black has various acting credits to his name.
06:36 He had a brief yet impactful guest
06:38 spot on The Big Bang Theory as Professor Crawley,
06:40 an entomologist whose lab loses its funding.
06:43 Excuse me, are you Professor Crawley?
06:47 Who wants to know?
06:48 This being a Louis Black character,
06:50 he doesn't take it well.
06:52 Given his fondness for insects, Crawley might not hurt a fly,
06:56 but he'll crush a person's spirit with his words alone.
06:59 Can you identify our cricket?
07:01 Of course I can.
07:02 I can identify every insect and arachnid on the planet.
07:06 Not that that's going to keep me from having to move in
07:09 with my daughter in Oxnard.
07:11 And we're not talking Oxnard at the beach.
07:14 No, we're talking Oxnard in the onion fields.
07:18 Armed with Black's signature firecracker voice,
07:21 Crawley becomes more intense with every moment on screen.
07:25 He even does the impossible, driving a speechless Sheldon
07:28 Cooper to admit defeat.
07:30 So when I tell you that that's a common field cricket,
07:34 you can take that to the damn bank,
07:37 because God knows I can't.
07:39 That tramp took me for everything.
07:41 [LAUGHTER]
07:44 Well, apparently I was wrong.
07:49 Number four, Io Adebri, Envy, as Sydney Adamu, the bear.
07:54 Io Adebri might be cyan with Envy in Inside Out 2.
07:58 I'm Envy.
07:59 Oh, look at your hair.
08:01 Oh, yeah, not happening.
08:02 Considering how her filmography has exploded with credits
08:05 in recent years, though, the rest of Hollywood
08:08 should envy her.
08:09 It's cool.
08:09 Not the point, Hazel.
08:11 Not the point.
08:12 Following a series of stand-up and TV writing gigs,
08:15 the masses noticed Adebri's star power when The Bear debuted.
08:18 You want a star?
08:20 I think it'd be nice, yeah.
08:22 Godspeed.
08:22 Thank you.
08:23 Adebri stars as Sydney, a newcomer at a Chicago
08:26 restaurant who has unlimited potential,
08:28 but is still finding her place in this new environment.
08:31 At this point, I'm putting so much into this.
08:33 I know.
08:34 I don't know, man, it's the same thing that you've been saying.
08:37 I know.
08:38 A kitchen is like a body, and every chef is an emotion.
08:41 It can get chaotic and messy, but when everyone
08:44 does their part accordingly, the results can only
08:46 be described with a chef's kiss.
08:48 It's great.
08:49 Thanks, chef.
08:50 What?
08:52 It's great.
08:53 Thank you, chef.
08:54 Sydney plays an essential role as new life
08:56 is breathed into the restaurant, winning Adebri an Emmy.
09:00 Number three, Phyllis Smith, Sadness, as Phyllis fans.
09:04 The Office.
09:05 Inside Out producer Jonas Rivera thought
09:08 Phyllis Smith would be perfect for the voice of Sadness
09:11 after seeing her meekly eat lunch opposite Cameron
09:14 Diaz in Bad Teacher.
09:15 Yeah, ugh, yeah.
09:18 You're going to find someone great.
09:20 Any Office fan could also tell you
09:22 that Smith perfected this role long before entering
09:25 the recording booth.
09:26 Hi, are there any local companies
09:29 that rent anti-gravity machines?
09:31 Anti-gravity machines?
09:33 That's right, yeah.
09:34 What do they do exactly?
09:36 They make you feel lighter.
09:38 Smith was originally a casting associate for the sitcom,
09:41 but she worked off the actor so well during auditions
09:44 that a role was made for her.
09:46 Smith's character is often undermined and mistreated
09:49 at work, feeding into her insecurities.
09:51 I wonder what people like about me.
09:56 Probably my jugs.
09:57 Working at Dunder Mifflin has its perks, however.
10:00 Namely, it's in the same building
10:02 as Vance Refrigeration, leading her to meet Bob Vance.
10:06 Around this time, things start looking up for Phyllis
10:08 as she becomes more outspoken in The Office.
10:12 Ooh, show me some attitude.
10:14 Oh, oh, oh.
10:17 Mother [BLEEP]
10:18 Oh, God.
10:19 Oh, no, no, no, no.
10:21 Number two, Maya Hawk, Anxiety as Robin Buckley.
10:25 Stranger things, Maya Hawk was so anxious
10:28 when she auditioned for the role of Anxiety
10:30 that she got choked up.
10:32 Hello.
10:33 I'm Anxiety.
10:34 Where can I put my stuff?
10:35 A new emotion.
10:37 Director Kelsey Mann also felt moved
10:40 to tears during her audition.
10:42 When considered Hawk's most well-known character,
10:44 Robin Buckley, anxiety might not be the first word
10:48 that comes to mind.
10:49 Hello, I can hear you.
10:51 Actually, I can hear everything.
10:53 You are both extremely loud.
10:55 As confident as Robin might be on the surface,
10:58 she certainly isn't without this emotion.
11:01 Behind her sharp tongue and fearless attitude,
11:03 Robin has been holding back her sexual identity.
11:06 Tammy Thompson's a girl.
11:09 Steve.
11:11 Yeah?
11:11 Oh.
11:18 Oh.
11:19 She has no problem talking to Steve.
11:21 But when she comes face to face with a girl she likes,
11:24 the words can get jumbled in her throat.
11:26 This fan-favorite character served as a breakout role
11:29 for Hawk, making her famous parentage an afterthought.
11:32 I can speak Spanish and French and Italian,
11:35 and I've been in a band for 12 years.
11:37 My ears are little geniuses, trust me.

11:54 Number one, Amy Poehler, Joy as Leslie Knope,
11:58 Parks and Recreation.
12:00 Amy Poehler has been bringing joy to audiences for decades,
12:04 from her SNL tenure to her turn as Leslie Knope.
12:07 Leslie, perhaps, best prepared Poehler
12:09 to voice Joy in Inside Out.
12:11 This is Joy, coming to you live in Riley's mind.
12:14 Make some noise.
12:16 This proud deputy director is a ray of optimism
12:20 in an otherwise unproductive government workplace.
12:23 Who knows when we'll all be together like this again.
12:25 It's often up to Leslie to rally her team together,
12:28 much like how Joy tries to keep the other emotions in order.
12:32 Just as Joy can't do everything on her own,
12:34 neither can Leslie.
12:36 As dysfunctional as the Parks Department can be,
12:38 it does ultimately function as Leslie's team
12:41 deals with incompetent politicians, disgruntled
12:44 citizens, and children of all ages.
12:46 The park isn't all fun and games,
12:48 but when Leslie's in charge, work is a lot more fun.
12:51 What other roles do you recognize the cast of Inside Out
12:54 2 from?
12:55 Share their filmographies in the comments.
12:57 Boy, are we so lucky we ran into you guys.
13:01 Boy, are we so lucky we ran into you guys.
