00:00 The day after the state budget and the Treasurer's pitching it as one for the future.
00:07 This is a package which is designed to make sure that we are really thoroughly training
00:12 South Australians and our entire workforce for all of these jobs which are coming our
00:18 way.
00:19 More than $275 million will be spent on 160,000 subsidised training places.
00:26 Where we are putting the subsidised course to attract people is in the areas that are
00:29 of the most need for government priorities like August, like three year old preschool,
00:34 like building and construction.
00:35 But some people are concerned about the struggles they're facing now.
00:39 They say the $243 cost of living concession payment doesn't go far enough for those doing
00:46 it tough.
00:47 It will pay maybe for one bill if they, you know, won't pay for those tyres they've been
00:52 putting off, won't pay for that dental work they've been putting off.
00:55 There needs to be perhaps even some more money put towards the rent assistance I think for
01:01 especially people in my age bracket.
01:03 The government's also doubling sports vouchers, reducing the school services charge and increasing
01:09 support for tenants and seniors health card holders.
01:12 The opposition says it should have provided more tax relief too.
01:16 Our preference is not to provide rebates or handouts.
01:20 Our preference is to reduce the cost going to South Australians.
01:24 There are a lot of workers in South Australia who are being taxed cuts of thousands of dollars.
01:29 What our job as a state government should be is to focus our cost of living relief on
01:35 those people who need it the most.
01:37 The concession payment will land in eligible people's bank accounts within weeks.
