00:00These frightening menaces will come in all different shapes and sizes and pose an immediate
00:05threat to your survival. Welcome to Mojo Plays, Josh here. Today we're delving into our picks for
00:11the 20 hardest enemies and bosses of the Fallout series. For this list we'll be considering the
00:17battle stats of each baddie including their health, level, damage, speed, and tactics used
00:22against the player. Note I'm going to try and avoid repeats, meaning we're only looking at
00:26the strongest variants, the meanest deathclaw, the toughest assaultron, etc. Non-canon bosses
00:33such as the unkillable Liberty Prime or Gojira, who was cut from the main game,
00:38will also not be included. With all that said, which of these adversaries gave you the most
00:43trouble? Number 20, Swamp Folk. The hillbilly Swamp Folk of Fallout 3's Point Lookout DLC were
00:59meant to serve as an additional challenge to those who had completed Broken Steel and had acquired
01:04some of the best gear in the game. Coming in several different flavors, the Bruisers are
01:09infamous for having an unarmed melee attack that is stronger than a deathclaw. How? With a tanky
01:16700 HP to match. Bizarrely, Bethesda had introduced a type of artificial difficulty when coding them,
01:22scripting a portion of damage from their attacks to be unavoidable. If you get hit,
01:26they will take a significant amount of your HP regardless of what you're wearing. Thankfully,
01:31they don't use very good weapons and are rather slow moving. Number 19, Dusky Yaoguai.
01:45The Yaoguai has a right to bear arms, and they will use those arms to shred you into Vault
01:50Dweller Spaghetti. Scaling with the player's level, thus not affected by the Animal Friend perk,
01:56the Dusky variant has a base HP of 1175, ever increasing as you do, with some resistances and
02:03a flurry rush attack where it swipes at the player for 200 damage a pop. You can recognize
02:08a Dusky boy by the darker coloration and more prominent scars, thus always carry a spare
02:14Stimpak when in their area. And pray those hits don't result in a stagger.
02:24Number 18, Albino Radscorpion.
02:32These bugs are the poster boys for Bullet Sponges, sitting at a healthy 1500. Being a rare
02:38variant of the regular Radscorpions, they're often fought in groups and have no weak spots even
02:43through the use of vets. Their poison leaves an alarming sting after just one touch, causing 25
02:48damage a second compared to the regular Radscorp's 3 damage a second. Even if you finish it off,
02:54you'll probably be popping chems just to keep your health from hitting 0. If that wasn't enough,
02:59albinos actually heal when in direct sunlight, similar to the effect of the player perk
03:04Solar Powered, and they are extremely fast compared to other versions. Honestly, the sole
03:10reason to acquire the Entomologist perk in Fallout 3, 50% more damage to bugs will not go unnoticed.
03:19Number 17, Ancient Behemoth.
03:26You know em, ya love em. Behemoths are those fire hydrant wielding wasteland wackos,
03:31and a variant of the oh so lovable Super Mutants.
03:35Ha ha, yes! Strong challenge you, brother!
03:39Behemoths are often treated as mini-bosses, and with easily over 1000 health, it's immediately
03:45clear why 1900 in the Ancient Behemoth's case. This 20 foot tall meat wall can hurl boulders
03:51or slam the ground to cause almost 200 damage to the player in a single strike,
03:56and they stagger your movement so that you're a sitting duck to other incoming attacks,
04:00since mutants often travel in raiding parties. While not hard to hit by any means,
04:05they will also use their arms to block their faces from headshots.
04:08It's usually worth the scuffle, as they drop quite a bit of loot when they do go down.
04:18Number 16, Feral Ghoul Reaver.
04:22Reavers are no doubt the most terrifying version of the standard zombie enemy that is the ghoul.
04:35Striking from the darkness, this 1100 health ghoul is twice as durable as a deathclaw,
04:41twice as fast, and can detect the player even when they are in stealth or invisible.
04:46You do not sneak attack the reaver, the reaver sneak attacks you.
04:50Once they've swarmed the vault dweller, enjoy a cocktail of radiation damage,
04:54that is constantly healing them by the way, and the gift of explosive body parts which are thrown
04:59with ungodly accuracy that also cripple your limbs on contact. Introduced in the Broken Steel DLC,
05:06the reaver will slowly begin to replace other feral ghouls spawning out in the world once at
05:11high level. This mechanic turns the metro tunnels into perilous bloodbaths when you may expect them
05:17to be a cakewalk with, you know, you got the best gear in the game. Number 15, Legendary Cazador.
05:32Likely the biggest offender at getting players to soil their vault suits, if you fought a single
05:37one of these things in the Mojave, you know exactly why it's on this list. Cazadors are
05:41based off of the real life tarantula hawk wasp, which already sounds like the wordplay of a
05:46fictional fallout monster, and if you don't want to sleep tonight, read up on how they reproduce.
05:50In Vegas, the legendary variant must be fought in a pitch black cavern, and since it's one of the
05:56few airborne enemy types, you're almost guaranteed to miss most of your shots. Stat-wise, the legend
06:01can deal 100 point damage in a single swing, with a lasting poison effect three times longer than a
06:07radscorpion. Even if you cripple them in an attempt to escape, they only become more terrifying when
06:12crawling towards you with alarming speed. Ew, ew, ew, ew. Cazadors won't take any extra damage from
06:19headshots, probably because they were created by Satan, and at 400 health, even the best flamer
06:25can't kill it fast enough for my liking. Sure, there are plenty of other enemies with higher
06:30health than a Caz, as we'll see in a minute, but the awful sound and sight of these critters
06:35are a war on a mental front as well as virtual.
06:52If you thought giant scorpions were lethal on their own, just wait till they shoot lasers. Pack
06:57your energy weapons, everybody. This guardian to Dr. Mobius dishes out 200 damage per pinch,
07:03200 damage per sting, and fires an atomic laser afflicting 30 rads per second. Found in the
07:09Forbidden Zone dome at the end of an old World Blues DLC quest, keep your distance and pray for
07:15critical hits against its armored body and EMP shield. Thankfully, there's lots of cover in where
07:21the X-42 is fought. Unthankfully, its radiation beam can still apply rads even through walls.
07:27Your best bet is to bring buckets of ammunition or specifically tech into the Robotics perk,
07:33allowing you to disable it for a short time.
07:50You already know it, the Deathclaw had to be on this list, purely for its legacy of tyranny.
07:56These beasts have been the hard mode mob of single player ever since the very first Fallout.
08:01Strongest of all is the Mythic variant. These things come right from hell to dish out massive
08:06damage in record time. Each of their Deathclaw swipes intend to cut your playtime short,
08:11and plenty have perished to its 350 melee heavy attack. It happens to us all at some point.
08:18They scale with the player level, are at least twice as fast as the player's top movement speed,
08:23have numerous resistances like a 400 mitigation stat to energy weapons,
08:28and over 1,350 health each. If you've seen one,
08:32it's probably already too late. They'll always live up to the name, a Deathclaw.
08:54The base anglers of Fallout 4's Far Harbor DLC aren't the most deadly creatures you'll find,
09:00but they may be amongst the most surprising.
09:10The Venomous Angler, however, boasts the highest level at 51, which also scales with the player,
09:17has a respectable 1,750 HP, immunities to any kind of poison, and like its brothers,
09:24hides within the shallow waters disguised as a lure weed plant. Any aspiring collector can
09:30easily stumble into one or more of these things when foraging, and have to face their energy
09:34projectile spit or powerful lunging attack. These things can chew through Mythic Deathclaws,
09:40and the most fatal battles are often the ones you don't see coming.
09:4711. Legendary Bloatfly
09:58This giant bug has claimed countless lives due to its unexpected and nearly unsurpassed might.
10:04The enormous acid spitter both fires plasma-like projectiles and slashes for ridiculous damage.
10:10I'm talking 450 damage a pop. Wowza. Tests have been done by fellow dwellers
10:16and this thing mops the floor with all the other enemies, beats multiple Deathclaws in combat.
10:21The raw stats reveal the truth of the 2,000 HP demon, then remember what I said about how
10:27flying enemies are often way harder to hit? Even when defeated, it releases a blast equal to a
10:33pulse grenade. The only explanation is that someone gave this bloatfly the power of friendship,
10:38because what is usually a C-tier enemy has become the apex predator. Thank goodness it's easy to
10:44hide from, since it spawns in the rocky terrain of the mysterious cave. That said, trying a melee
10:50weapon build against her makes this battle entirely impossible.
11:0010. Mirelurk Queen
11:02The queens are of the top tier for Mirelurks, and often play out like a kaiju battle from a movie,
11:08as they tower over both the player and their many minions. At only 1,000 health, they may seem like
11:14a standard oversized crab, but they have quite a few tricks for a survivor to put up with. The
11:18queens spray a grenade burst of hatchlings, which can easily overwhelm the player, spit highly
11:23damaging acid, and can even kill you with a single shot. The queen is also known as the
11:29overwhelm the player, spit highly damaging acidic poison that will cause damage over time,
11:34and use their shells as a shield from oncoming fire. You'll have to juggle fighting her army
11:39of crustaceans, maneuvering to her weak spots under her shell, and stopping to heal from all
11:44the pinches you'll be receiving. A tricky lift for any sole survivor.
11:599. Enraged Fogcrawler
12:10One such Fogcrawler is known as the Shipbreaker, a saltwater monster that will certainly make a
12:16meal out of anyone not pocketing hundreds of armor-piercing rounds. Fogcrawlers are known
12:21for their nigh-immunity level resistance against bullets and energy weapons,
12:25plus complete immunity to radiation and poison. The Enraged variant rocks 4,000 points of damage
12:32resistance, has easily over 2,000 health that scales with the player's level, is immune to
12:37being tamed by the Wasteland Whisperer perk, and acts as the toughest non-boss enemy in Fallout 4.
12:45Straight up nukes are the best offense if you want to stand a chance at cracking the crawler's
12:50shell, but you're unlikely to drop them before they start swinging with a decent 140 melee damage
12:55attack. As the name suggests, they'll only appear with fog and are fairly indistinguishable from
13:01their weaker counterparts at first glance, so I couldn't really blame players for trying to go
13:05head-to-head with one of these and losing. 8. The Master
13:21This chunky box of meat and wires is the final boss of Fallout 1, a cult leader meets doctor
13:29meets computer who appears to have gotten way into PC building, pun intended. While not the
13:35most complicated of boss fights in the series, The Master is rightfully way stronger than anything
13:40else in the first title. At a respectable 500 HP, massive at the time, which is comparably still
13:46meaty for us used to the modern boss HPs, expect a long fight if you're not well prepared. Longer
13:52still if you can't take out the super mutant reinforcements he calls in every two turns.
13:57His living green bullet sponges have no problems with body blocking bullets for their master,
14:02who is all the while firing at you with numerous gatling lasers. All that said, due to his limited
14:07weapon range and weakness to pulse grenades, a player can outsmart him with the right know-how,
14:12or use a high speech level to forfeit this battle entirely.
14:217. Impostor Sheepsquatch
14:31The Impostor Sheepsquatch is a cryptid themed assaultron and minor boss of Fallout 76,
14:36and as will be a running theme with 76, monsters in this game often have ridiculous amounts of
14:43health being that this title is multiplayer. Sitting at 9500 HP, the fuzzy robot is both
14:49invisible and invincible when you first encounter it, until three pylons across the area are
14:55activated, after which the actual fight begins. Its laser eye can damage the player from range,
15:01and also set the ground on fire, creating a lasting hazard. Plus, it is immune to any
15:06limb damage, so there's no slowing this thing down once it's on you. Bring your very best
15:11power armor and a good buddy to have any fun fighting this equivalent of Robo Bigfoot.
15:226. Ultrasight Titan
15:24I would have never expected a mole rat to make this list, that was until the Nuka World on Tour
15:37update added the event Seismic Activity to 76. In it, players must launch a nuke and enter multiple
15:43phases of damaging ultrasight crystals, before turning all their attention to Godzilla Mole
15:49with its 30,000 health and complete resistance to ultrasight ammo, which usually deals bonus
15:55damage against bosses. During any one of the prior mentioned phases, it's easy to fail without
16:00damaging the crystals in the time limit, and will further waste your time by hiding underground,
16:05it's a challenging balancing act for small groups, so you're better off getting lucky on a server
16:11with a lot of other bloodthirsty players. Mega Mole here will gobble up your ammo supply,
16:16and is reportedly not very much fun compared to the
16:19other big raid bosses in the game due to his boring moveset.
16:335. Earl Williams, Wendigo Colossus
16:36Earl is a specific Wendigo Colossus found in the mines from Fallout 76. Like other Colossuses is,
16:49he'll spawn multiple legendary Wendigos, which is already bad enough, but he also has the unique
16:55trait of a 80% damage reduction as well as over 30,000 health. Players can't simply wail on him
17:02as long as they'd like either, since this boss fight has the time limit which you'll automatically
17:06fail after. Earl's quest is made as a public event as soon as a nuke is launched towards him.
17:11His bag of tricks includes a scream that will force your players to stop attacking, and many,
17:16many corrosive attacks to tear through your armor. This battle is made only possible from his three
17:22heads, having you land extra damaging potshots more often, and that many of his attacks can
17:27be dodged, like the phase where he drops boulders on the team from the ceiling.
17:384. Legate Lanius
17:48Caesar, or Kaisar's infamous military commander who is more than willing to play dirty to win.
17:53Bringing this back to single player, where foes have much more reasonable numbers,
17:57not only does the man behind the mask hit for just short of 100 damage each time,
18:02he also carries incendiary grenades to purge players with. Lanius is absurdly designed,
18:07as he can whip out a unique healing powder to tank through damage and is coded to be a whopping 80%
18:13faster than the player. Despite his deep lore mentioning that he destroyed armies single
18:18handedly, that won't stop him from entering a phase of running and hiding during your battle.
18:23Once his health is below 40%, he will flee to heal, calling in multiple goons to fire upon you,
18:29and during which all of his limbs are restored to 100% health, removing any of your progress.
18:34With an unreal 920 health for a regular dude, he's the tallest human character in Vegas, and
18:41for fun, he can't even be disarmed. It's safe to say that the developers wanted this guy to be
18:47remembered, and much like the in-game characters that speak of him, this ambassador is one to be
18:53feared. Number 3, Ulysses. This pretentious son of a gun is the final boss of the Lonesome
19:13Row DLC. If you can't reason with him at a high speech crap level, Ulysses, um, let's see here,
19:19throws frag grenades and flashbangs, whacks you with a staff with a grand slam special move,
19:25uses end game weapons like the anti-matter rifle, and brings robots to a gunfight that constantly
19:31heal him faster than a stim pack if you can believe it. I have a personal vendetta here,
19:37I put down New Vegas for a month because of this guy, eventually I resorted to cheesing him by
19:42painstakingly pushing him off the edge, and it seems most players agree with me because facing
19:47him 1 on 1 combat is almost guaranteed death. Ulysses is the only human character with 1000
19:54plus hit points in the game, is coded to walk 15% faster than the player, and is a perfect 10 in all
20:00special stats to boot, a feat only achieved by 4 characters in the entire Fallout franchise.
20:07Imagine fighting your own fully leveled character at the end of the game, that's the only thing
20:11comparable to the difficulty spike of this bloke. What's more, Big U cannot be knocked down,
20:17he can replace the robots you destroy with new ones periodically, can shoot for over 100 damage,
20:22and becomes invisible with his own stealth boys. My advice, tell this guy to take a hike and throw
20:28him over the railing Emperor Palpatine style. Number 2, Scorch Beast Queen
20:48An end game boss the likes of which were once thought unimaginable, once spawned her majesty
20:55calls upon waves and waves of fellow scorched enemies, and all must be killed within only 30
21:01minutes. Thank you 76 for introducing this fun mechanic. With the largest move pool on the list
21:07by far, Mama Scorch Beast has 6 methods of attack, some dealing over 200 damage, and is always encased
21:14by a radiation cloud, causing constant damage reduction for her whole squad. Who would have
21:19guessed a gargantuan bat would sit at the highest universal health of over 32,000. It's no wonder
21:27that 8 or more players are recommended, nay required, to fight this royalty. To top it off
21:33she has resistances across the board, including that of fire and cryo attacks, and she's not shy
21:39to take to the air Skyrim style if you're dishing out a little too much pain for her liking.
21:44Due to the multiplayer aspect of 76, this queen was designed to be the boss to end all bosses
21:51when you're fighting in a big group. If you aim to cross the queen off your bucket list,
21:55a good luck and bring plenty of backup.
21:581. Frank Horrigan
22:10You're ride's over, mutie. Time to die.
22:14He who awaits you as the final boss of Fallout 2. Legend says he's laughed off
22:19plasmafire and tore a deathclaw in half with his bare hands. Looking at Frankie boy,
22:24honestly, I do not doubt it. This power armored super mutant yields near unsurpassed credentials
22:30at a whopping 999 health, keep in mind this was Fallout 2 before many enemies saw the number 300,
22:37and he's a perfect 10 in all special skills. There's really nothing this machine of war can't
22:43do, and I know Mr. Horrigan would still be a challenge in the gameplay of today's titles
22:48since he carries a gatling plasma. One of the best weapons in even the most recent release of
22:53Fallout 76. If you dare fight him, note his ability to attack several times per round with
22:59unique weapons such as the end boss knife which take no ammo and hit for nearly the highest damage
23:05in the game. Of course being a mutant, Frank is immune to rads, and your only true hope is to
23:10bring lots of explosives and careful decision making if you want to stand a chance. This boss
23:16is the kind of old school hard where the devs didn't pull any punches and they do not care how
23:21many times you lose. To many long time fans of the series, he'll be remembered as the ultimate
23:26big bad evil guy. You're not a hero, you're just a walking corpse. Boom, that's all from me. Those
23:33are the toughest dudes. Thanks for watching. Check out our other Fallout videos right here
