00:00 "Oh, what's her name?"
00:01 "Constance."
00:03 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the sweetest
00:10 and most wholesome moments from the young Sheldon cast that brought tears to our eyes.
00:15 "I suggest you all try to be as brave as my twin sister. That's my plan."
00:19 Number 10. Missy Hugs Mary
00:22 As kids grow up, it's natural that they start pulling away from their parents
00:26 and fighting for independence.
00:28 In this episode, mother and daughter are at odds after Missy gets caught
00:32 wearing makeup to school and lies about it.
00:34 "I wish I was your daughter."
00:36 "Is that so? Well, guess what? You're sleeping here tonight because I don't feel like being
00:45 around either one of you."
00:46 An argument leaves Connie taking care of her granddaughter
00:49 and convincing her to cut her mom some slack.
00:52 We learn that Mary was once far more free-spirited,
00:55 until a complication during Missy's birth changed everything.
00:58 "There was a point where the doctors didn't know if you were gonna make it,
01:03 and your mom got so scared, and she made a promise to God
01:06 that if you were okay, that she would start reading the Bible, going to church."
01:13 While we don't get to see it for ourselves, we can't help but get a little choked up
01:17 when Mary tells Connie that Missy hugged her, in front of her friends no less.
01:21 "Nothing, she was an angel. I dropped her off at school and she hugged me in front of her friends."
01:27 "Really?"
01:28 "And not just any friends, Heather M was there, and that is a big deal."
01:32 Can someone pass the tissues?
01:34 Number 9. Twin Telepathy.
01:37 Sheldon can be quite a handful, but when he moves to Dallas to attend a school for gifted children,
01:42 his absence is felt strongly at home. Before the big move, the twins have a heart-to-heart
01:47 where Sheldon compares his sister to string beans, and from that, she deduces that he will miss her.
01:53 "To me, you're like string beans. No one asks for them, no one wonders about them,
01:58 they're just there on the plate. But you eat them, right? Yes? You're gonna miss me."
02:05 During their first night in separate rooms, Missy tries to reach out to her brother using
02:10 twin telepathy. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
02:14 "I think mom misses you real bad.
02:18 Alright, I can't hear you so I'm gonna hang up now. Goodnight."
02:27 While we're not sure Sheldon heard her, her dad sure did. Missy's excitement at seeing
02:32 Sheldon back in his own bed the following morning is just so cute we want to cry.
02:36 "You got my message! Hiya! No hugging, no hugging!"
02:43 Number 8. Sheldon Takes Off His Mittens
02:45 Most parents don't expect a call from the principal on their kid's first day of school.
02:50 Then again, most parents don't have a kid like Sheldon Cooper.
02:53 "Ralph and George, you wanna weigh in here?"
02:55 "You will."
02:56 "Oral Roberts University is a wonderful school."
02:59 "He said I was intimidated by his intelligence and then he offered to be my leader."
03:04 It's no easier for Georgie, who gets teased for being in the same grade as his little brother.
03:09 In a heartfelt moment, George Sr. has a candid talk with Sheldon
03:12 about why the Coopers moved to Medford.
03:15 "Ball coaches aren't allowed to recruit kids from other high schools to play on their teams."
03:19 "And you told on them?"
03:20 "Yeah. You know what happened?"
03:22 "Justice descended upon the rule breakers?"
03:25 "I got fired, Sheldon."
03:28 It's a nice father-son moment, but we didn't necessarily think much of it.
03:32 However, during dinner, the notoriously germophobic Sheldon
03:36 removes his mitten and holds his dad's hand.
03:38 We can immediately see that this small gesture means the world to George.
03:42 "It was the first time I held my father's hand."
03:45 "God bless you and bless the hands that prepared it."
03:48 "Amen."
03:50 Can we borrow those mittens to dab our eyes?
03:53 Number 7.
03:55 Anytime Adult Sheldon Gains New Perspective on His Father.
03:59 Big Bang fans know that the Parents series didn't always paint the most
04:03 favorable picture of the Coopers patriarch.
04:05 "He may not have been the world's greatest dad,
04:08 but maybe we weren't the world's greatest kids."
04:11 However, in Young Sheldon, we get to see George as a dedicated family man,
04:15 who, yes, had his flaws, but was an all-around stand-up guy.
04:19 "I didn't realize until years later that my father was only asking questions
04:25 about lightning and thunder to cheer me up.
04:28 In fact, he would often pretend to be dumb just to make me feel better."
04:32 Narrator Sheldon often looks back and admits that he wasn't always
04:35 fair in his judgment of his dad.
04:37 Given how Sheldon loves to brag about his eidetic memory and rarely admits he's wrong,
04:42 it's surprising and touching to see him show his empathetic growth.
04:46 "As a child, I never understood the sacrifices my father made for his family's happiness,
04:52 which made me somewhat less compassionate than I should have been."
04:55 "Yay, we're not moving!"
04:56 "It's not a tent!"
04:58 It's really moving to hear him re-examine his memories under a new lens,
05:01 and realize that he didn't always give his dad the credit for his actions.
05:04 "For a long time, I focused on my father's shortcomings.
05:09 Now that I'm his age and have kids of my own,
05:14 I realize he was just a person doing the best he could. And he did a lot."
05:20 Number 6. A Trip to Pasadena
05:24 In this season 3 episode, Sheldon and his dad fly to Pasadena to hear Stephen Hawking give a lecture
05:29 at Caltech. However, during the pre-flight safety briefing, Sheldon panics and locks himself in the
05:35 bathroom.
05:36 "Mr. Spock, he flies around all the time in that spaceship. He's not afraid, is he?"
05:42 "I'm not Mr. Spock."
05:43 "No, but I've seen you pretend to be him."
05:47 George may not always get Sheldon, but he knows exactly how to comfort his son,
05:51 and it's so wholesome that our hearts want to burst.
05:54 "Okay, Mr. Spock, your first order is to return to the ship."
05:59 "Yes, Captain."
06:04 It's some top-tier parenting, and it works. Just as we think we're done drying our eyes,
06:09 George and Sheldon arrive at Caltech. Sheldon already starts to see his future there.
06:14 "Imagine all the stimulating conversations that must go on at these tables."
06:18 "I bet."
06:19 "I can see myself going here one day."
06:23 "I think you'd fit right in."
06:26 And as the camera pans out to show the cafeteria where countless iconic
06:30 Big Bang moments take place, we're bawling all over again.
06:34 Number 5. George Comforts Missy Over Boy Troubles
06:39 Almost any George and Missy bonding moment has the power to leave us a little weepy.
06:44 Their first daddy-daughter date is one of the most adorable moments in the entire series.
06:49 "Leave me to it."
06:50 "No, sit with me."
06:54 "It's okay."
06:55 Even as Missy believes she's outgrown them,
06:59 we see there's nothing George won't do to put a smile on his little girl's face.
07:03 "Stop saying that."
07:04 "What? Daddy-daughter date?"
07:06 "Yes."
07:07 "Hmm, okay. Then what would you like me to call our daddy-daughter date?"
07:12 "You're so annoying."
07:14 This is also true after Missy first experiences heartache.
07:19 George just wants to cheer her up, but feels helpless.
07:23 "Want me to get your mom?"
07:24 "No."
07:26 "Want me to beat this guy up?"
07:28 "No."
07:29 "What can I do?"
07:33 Turns out, nothing mends a broken heart quite like playing catch with your old man,
07:37 and getting revenge using the curveball he taught you to throw.
07:41 Still, that first part makes our hearts melt every single time.
07:44 "Two fingers on it, and at the end you-"
07:48 "That?"
07:50 "There you go, give her a shot. Hey, how about that? Right, just like a pro, I'm telling you."
07:58 Number 4. Sheldon Believes in His Mom
08:00 In Big Bang, Sheldon often mocks his mom's beliefs.
08:04 "Frankly, mom, I'm encouraged to see how advanced your group has become.
08:08 You're willing to sail out into the ocean without fear of falling off the edge."
08:11 However, in Young Sheldon, we see that he believes in her perhaps even more than she believes in God.
08:18 "There are five billion people on this planet, and you're the perfect mom for me.
08:21 What are the odds of that?"
08:23 So in the pilot, when Mary asks her kids who will accompany her to church,
08:28 he steps up despite being a non-believer.
08:31 "I'll go with you, mom."
08:32 "Why are you going? You don't believe in God."
08:35 "Nope, but I believe in mom."
08:37 "I'll take it."
08:38 At the time, you might have said, "Aw," but then you thought no more about it.
08:42 Now, let's fast forward to the series finale.
08:45 The twins agree to get baptized to appease Mary.
08:48 However, when the day rolls around, Missy storms out, and Mary expects Sheldon to bail too.
08:54 Instead, he reassures her that he's still going through with it.
08:57 "Are you gonna go too? I know you don't believe."
09:00 "I don't, but I believe in you."
09:04 We're not crying. You are.
09:06 Number 3. Georgie and Mandy Name Their Daughter
09:11 We teared up during Georgie and Mandy's wedding,
09:13 almost as if we were right there alongside their families.
09:16 "By the power vested in me by the great state of Texas,
09:19 I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
09:23 However, there's another Mangie moment that made us even more emotional.
09:29 As Mandy's due date nears, the couple starts talking about baby names.
09:33 "Still haven't settled on a name?"
09:35 "Well, I was thinking maybe Alice."
09:38 "Alice Cooper. That is badass. Sold!"
09:42 While Alice Cooper would have been undeniably badass,
09:44 the name they ultimately chose warms the cockles of our hearts.
09:48 "What's her name?"
09:49 "Constance."
09:52 "Yes! Thank you!"
09:56 After all, Connie was there for the couple pretty much from the moment she found out
10:01 they were expecting. She stepped up, took Mandy in, and immediately made her feel like family.
10:06 We can imagine Georgie and Mandy hoped their daughter would inherit more than
10:10 just a name from her great-mema.
10:12 "Can we see her?"
10:14 "Well, they're sleeping right now, but I'll let y'all know when they're up."
10:16 "Well, we're gonna be right here."
10:18 Number 2. Sheldon's graduation speech.
10:20 As graduation nears, Sheldon begins to panic about starting college.
10:25 "The other day I couldn't find my safety goggles and I freaked out at school,
10:28 and my dad asked, 'Is this how I plan on acting when I get to college?'
10:31 And I said, 'No, but it probably is because even though I'm smart, I'm just a little boy.'"
10:35 Fortunately, there's one person who knows exactly how he feels.
10:38 During one of their bedtime talks, Missy tells him it's totally normal to feel scared,
10:43 and encourages him to embrace the uncertainty ahead.
10:46 "You're scared?"
10:47 "Yeah."
10:51 "So what do we do?"
10:53 "I guess be scared and do it anyway."
10:58 Sheldon takes her words to heart, and shows his appreciation by
11:02 dedicating his valedictorian speech to her.
11:05 "Example that I found the courage to move forward into this new and exciting chapter of my life.
11:09 Missy, this is for you."
11:16 The look on Missy's face when he calls her name is so sweet.
11:20 Her smile could light up a room.
11:22 Even though Sheldon is not exactly a master of emotional expression,
11:25 he always seems to find heartfelt ways to let his loved ones know how much they mean to him.
11:30 "So if any of my fellow graduates are nervous about the future,
11:33 know that you're not alone.
11:36 I suggest you all try to be as brave as my twin sister.
11:41 That's my plan."
11:42 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
11:46 Missy comforts Sheldon.
11:47 It's so adorable that Missy doesn't actually want to see her brother upset,
11:51 even more so that he hugs her back.
11:54 Mary comforts Missy after a breakup.
11:57 These mother-daughter moments are far and few between, so they're always heartwarming.
12:01 "I'm glad you're back."
12:03 "Me too. Do you want to tell me what happened?"
12:05 Mary hugs George.
12:13 After a rough day at work, a hug from his wife helps ease the pressure.
12:17 "I'm glad you're back."
12:18 "I'm glad you're back."
12:20 "I'm glad you're back."
12:21 "I'm glad you're back."
12:22 A hug from his wife helps ease the sting just a little.
12:25 "Don't you have to go?"
12:26 "I'm sorry."
12:36 Georgie gives Veronica a candy necklace.
12:40 It's a sweet gesture that clearly means more to her than any expensive jewelry.
12:44 "Before you get mad."
12:46 "This only cost me ten cents."
12:47 "I saw you smile."
12:48 An A+ brother-sister moment.
12:59 He might not want Missy to know it, but Georgie's one proud big bro.
13:02 "Did you hang it on your wall?"
13:10 "Get out of here!"
13:10 "I'm telling people you cried."

13:28 Number 1. Seeing Sheldon's Future Pals
13:32 Nothing brings on the happy tears quite like a big bang throwback,
13:36 like when Sheldon offered his first hot beverage.
13:39 "Can I offer you a hot beverage?"
13:42 "That would be nice."
13:44 Or when we caught up with Sheldon and Amy in the series finale.
13:47 While those moments brought a tear or two, the season 2 finale had us full on ugly crying.
13:52 Our hearts shattered for Sheldon when no one turned up to his Nobel listening party.
13:56 "A primary feature of quarks is that they're always bonded together,
14:00 but in that moment I felt like a neutrino destined to be alone forever."
14:08 We really wanted to give him a hug, but then we found ourselves needing comfort
14:11 when the montage of Sheldon's future friends as kids started playing.
14:15 Even though Sheldon may feel like a neutrino now,
14:19 it's comforting to know his quarks are out there, waiting to bond together one day.
14:23 "Thankfully, I was wrong."
