00:00Can you tell us how stressful, how nervous it was for those three hours when it looked
00:08like the qualification might be taken out of your hands completely?
00:12Look, there's not many things that you can control and weather is definitely one of those
00:16that is completely out of your control.
00:19The guys were pretty relaxed in there to be quite honest with you because there isn't
00:23much you can do.
00:24There's no point in getting het up and everything like that.
00:26We knew that the weather was planned to pass through and I'm sure you guys saw that it
00:31kept doubling back on us for a little bit.
00:34So yeah, we're not weather experts, I'm sure that you guys are not weather experts at the
00:38same time and I'm pretty sure that the radar's got it wrong most of the time as well.
00:42Absolutely right.
00:43You are a batting expert, were you happy to get the chance to get out there and happy
00:48with how you were able to give the innings a bit of oomph and get it going?
00:51Yeah, it wasn't an easy pitch.
00:53You could see divots coming out of the wicket, you could see when they bowled spin, it stuck
01:00in the pitch quite a bit.
01:02So yeah, it was a tricky period obviously to lose a couple of wickets early in a T10.
01:08You've got to find the right balance as to when to press the accelerator and take a risk
01:13and also calculate at the right time because with the hitting that we've got we can always
01:19catch up but it's a case of setting a platform to be able to do that and the partnership
01:24with Harry and I was really pleasing.
01:26Obviously both you guys moved up a place in the order for today and put on a good 50-odd
01:32partnership and got going.
01:33Was that happy?
01:34Are you happy to stay at three and four?
01:36It looks like it's worked out.
01:37Look, I'm not sure that's going to be a permanent thing, I don't know what's going on with that.
01:43Look, today that was a decision that was made and you go out there and you perform in the
01:48positions that you're asked to do so and that partnership in the middle there, like
01:52I said, after losing two early on was an imperative partnership and something that, look, if Harry
01:58and I can bat for a period of time through the middle there's going to be some decent
02:03scores.
02:04Have you ever played in a game where they've had a retired out and I don't know if you
02:08guys just spotted it right away as you were changing heads or whatever that David Visa
02:12was coming out?
02:13No, but when you've got Visa that strikes it as clean as he did, coming out into the
02:18middle, fair play to him.
02:19And just while we're on him, I think it's a huge credit to him, the career that he's
02:24had in international cricket and he's going to be a big miss for those guys and it's a
02:30credit to him how well he's played over such a long period of time.
02:34Thanks.
02:35Anyone else?
02:36Yeah, George, go ahead and then Matt.
02:41Thank you.
02:43Well played.
02:44Obviously not your best game the other day in Barbados, but you got quite a lot of flack
02:48afterwards.
02:49I wonder whether you were surprised by that?
02:51I don't know.
02:52You can ask the guy sat next to you.
02:54No, but I mean, you've had a long career at this stage.
03:00You obviously were aware of it then.
03:03How do you react?
03:04Look, people are allowed to have opinions and yeah, look, it's part and parcel of it.
03:11It's not the first time that people have had a go at me, is it?
03:14So yeah, you take it on the chin and you crack on, but look, at the end of the day, there's
03:19a reason why I've played for so long and there's a reason why I'm in the team.
03:24So maybe sometimes the opinions and the views that come through certain people's eyes are
03:29incorrect and maybe need to look at themselves.
03:34What are you going to do this evening?
03:35Are you going to watch the Scotland game?
03:37Look, I'm sure we'll be keeping an eye on it for sure, but at the same time, there's
03:43not much we can do about what happens over there.
03:46So yeah, we'll be keeping an eye on it.
03:49Of course we will.
03:50But at the same time, we've done everything that's in our hands.
03:55Now to go through, there was a lot of chat about the net run rate.
03:58There was a lot of chat about all of that stuff.
04:02We've overcome that net run rate and we've overcome the challenges that have been put
04:05in front of us.
04:06And as a group, we've stuck together really tightly.
04:10That Australia game was a tough game and they outplayed us in that, and fair play to them.
04:15But the way that we've responded as a group, how tight we've stayed over the last week
04:20or so, we've accepted the challenge that's been put in front of us and we've responded
04:23very well to that.
04:24Matt, can we do one more please?
04:27Go ahead, Matt.
04:28Jonny, you're one of the few who's still in this team, flicking between Test and the
04:33White Ball team.
04:34It seems to have changed throughout your career.
04:37How hard is that to do and is there any sort of difficult balance with the keeping question
04:41in your mind going forward for the rest of the summer?
04:44I've not thought about that to be quite honest with you.
04:47You know my views on that.
04:48I'd like to be keeping wicket and batting in the Tests.
04:52That's exactly what I've wanted to do.
04:54I haven't spent much time thinking about it.
04:57The games have been coming thick and fast.
04:59I think I've had about five nights at home since January 11th when we left.
05:05It's something that you just keep playing.
05:08You keep trying to learn, you keep enjoying the experiences and the challenges that get
05:12put in front of you.
05:13I think that's the important bit.
05:15When you are on tour and when you're fortunate enough to play in the different formats and
05:19the different countries that you have around the world, the willingness and the enjoyment
05:25and the challenges you've got to accept and sometimes overcome them.
05:29Look at times it does get difficult.
05:31At times it is hard to adapt from format to format and it does take a little bit of change.
05:36But look it's something that I've done for all my career and I wouldn't change anything
05:41of it to be quite honest with you because to be fortunate enough to play in all three
05:46formats for England is something that I'm very, very proud of and what a great time
05:55to be playing in all three formats because there's so many exciting bits going on.
05:59Has anyone spoken to you about how an innings like that can secure your players for the
06:04summer because obviously you're not going to get much chance to play, any chance to
06:07play a Red Bull cricket?
06:08I don't think I've played many Red Bull games in the last ten years to be quite honest with
06:12you leading in.
06:13It's not something that has been laid out with the scheduling whether you're coming
06:17back for the English summer and you've been playing in the IPL or there's White Bull cricket
06:22before the test matches start.
06:24So I don't think that changes really anything whether it's a T20 innings out here in the
06:30West Indies or you're playing a couple of county championship games.
06:34I don't think that makes too much of a difference.
06:36If you're contributing to teams and you're playing in the right way then whoever gets
06:42the nod will get the nod.
