00:00It's been a frustrating start to the week for many commuters here in Sydney with major
00:06train delays across western parts of Sydney's train network.
00:11Now those were caused by major signal issues at Harris Park station just west of where
00:18I am now.
00:20Those began at around 4am and persisted right through the peak travel time for many Sydney
00:27commuters.
00:29Many people have been encouraged to change trains here at Granville due to disruptions
00:33on the T1, T2 and T5 train lines.
00:37Now the T1 and T2 lines have faced major delays often with trains waiting on the platform
00:43for several minutes if not longer as they tried to clear some of the backlog and the
00:48T5 Cumberland line wasn't running at all for a lot of the morning here in Sydney.
00:54Now that meant delays for people of 25 minutes or more.
00:57I spoke to one man whose commute this morning had blown out by more than an hour and a half.
01:03Here's what he had to say.
01:04Very inconvenient today.
01:06How much time has this cost you?
01:09At least one and a half hour.
01:11You know like starting your week on this note that will be pretty frustrating.
01:16Now Transport for NSW resolved the issue as at 8am this morning but there have been knock
01:20on delays right across the rail network concentrated further west of here between Blacktown and
01:27Penrith stations.
01:30They said that they've expected those to have impacts throughout the day but should be easing
01:36into the early afternoon.
