00:22What was your overall takeaway of the performance?
00:25Was it a case of the first half shows why England are among the favourites,
00:30and the second half, what could be undone?
00:33No, not quite, I don't agree with that.
00:36I think the first half shows why we can score goals against any team,
00:40and the second half shows why we can keep a clean sheet against any team.
00:44Obviously commonly with the team there's a negative theme around all our games,
00:48sometimes rightly so, but I think in this case you take the positives
00:51from the fact that maybe we had to hold on at times and suffer a little bit,
00:55but we kept a clean sheet, and when you keep a clean sheet all you have to do
00:58is win the game, and it's three points.
01:00I think this team is still so new, gelling together with every game,
01:03so I think inside the changing room we'll be happy with that.
01:06Of course there will be negatives that we want to rub out,
01:09but overall I'm pleased with that performance.

01:14Can I just ask how special it is for you to score England's first goal of the tournament?
01:18And can I also just ask the celebration with Trent,
01:21whether there's a reason behind that?
01:25It's obviously really special to score any time for England,
01:28especially a match-winning goal and a goal that gives us points
01:31and can contribute to us hopefully having a good tournament.
01:35The celebration was from a game we played called Wolf,
01:38and one of the staff always holds his face like that when he doesn't know what's going on,
01:42so it was more celebration for the backroom staff who put in so much work every day.
01:47They won't receive any awards like this or get to have the moments that we get to have on the pitch,
01:54but we value them so much and it's important going through the tournament we keep that atmosphere.

02:05What does that mean to you and do you listen sometimes to the Beatles?
02:09Or are you too young for them?
02:11No, I like the Beatles, I listen to the Beatles a lot.
02:14My style of music is a bit old, so that's right up my street.
02:17But I really enjoy playing in front of the England fans.
02:20I think it's a different experience for me because obviously I play abroad,
02:23so when I can hear an English crowd for the first time every few months, I really enjoy it.
02:28And obviously they give me a lot of appreciation, a lot of love,
02:31and I try and give that back with my performances and my energy on the pitch.

02:40It seems like nothing phases you at all.
02:44On the back of the season that you've had, obviously, with Real Madrid, couldn't have gone any better,
02:48do you feel like nothing is beyond you?
02:51No-one for a long, long time has led England to a major trophy.
02:56I don't know.
02:57I just enjoy playing football when it comes to each and every game.
03:00I take it as a single game as opposed to looking too far into the future.
03:04I realise that in every game I feel like I can make an impact.
03:07I feel like I can decide games.
03:10But that happens on any given game instead of looking too far into the future.
03:14The truth is that I really enjoy playing football,
03:16so when I go out there I play with a fearlessness because I love doing it so much.
03:20It's a release for me.
03:22It's my favourite thing to do in the world.
03:24When I play out, it's not much of a job.

03:35You, Trent and Dec haven't played much together at all as a three.
03:39How do you feel it worked and how was it with Trent?
03:42Because he's not played in this role that much before.
03:44I loved it.
03:45I think we had a great balance with the ball, without the ball,
03:48particularly in possession.
03:49I thought Trent was brilliant.
03:50He conducts games so well.
03:52He's very calm on the ball.
03:54His technique and quality is unmatched, I think,
03:57in terms of what he can do with the ball.
03:59And he's always positive, and that really helps someone like me
04:02who wants to get on the ball all over the pitch
04:04and try and attack their back line.
04:06So I look forward to having more minutes with him,
04:10enjoying how we can develop and how we can get used to each other's game,
04:13and seeing how far we can take the potential.
04:17And, of course, as always, Dec was fantastic.
04:19I think he's one of the best in the world in that position, and he's a joy.

04:26If you could go and reveal the goal that you scored,
04:31because you started the play back in the centre circle, in the midfield.
04:37So if you go to, again, you suffered five or six fouls in the first half.
04:42It was a really rough game in the first half.
04:44They went after you.
04:46It was a good first half for you, so if you could go through that.
04:50Yeah, I felt really confident coming into the game.
04:53Couldn't wait to play at such an amazing tournament,
04:55play with such an amazing group of players.
04:57So I think you could see that I was enjoying my football.
05:00I wanted to get on the ball, I wanted to make an impact,
05:02take the game to them early, because I think I wanted to build an energy
05:06from the fans and to get behind the team,
05:08and when you're progressive it helps doing that.
05:11Trying to be aggressive without the ball as well.
05:13Yeah, I took a few kicks,
05:14but I think it's something I've gotten used to over the last couple of years.
05:18It's about trying to react the right way and not lose my head,
05:21and I think I handled that well today.
05:23Of course, the goal comes from a great movement between some great players.
05:28Like I said, the more we play together,
05:31we'll understand each other's movements more,
05:33but those kind of magic moments where it comes together so naturally
05:36is really nice.
05:37I try to just keep making the box,
05:39because I know players can find me and I know that I can deliver.

05:45and ended up being really important for the three points.
