We ask Glaswegians what they think about banning energy drinks for under 16s.
Transcript
00:00No, I think it should be banned for their health.
00:02I don't really know. I don't really drink energy drinks.
00:04Because they're high in caffeine, high in sugar,
00:07they cause health limitations and I don't think they need it.
00:10I don't think it's good for them.
00:11In terms of under-16s, obviously with these kind of energy drinks,
00:15it does strip out a lot of vitamins,
00:17which is why they put so much B12 and different things like that in it.
00:20And they always say, you know, the high caffeine amount,
00:24you do see these kind of kids bouncing off the walls.
00:26So yes, I think for under-16s, there should be a restriction on that.
00:30Do you think that they should be illegal for under-16s?
00:33Nah. Just sell them.
00:35For other people, though, I think, you know,
00:38once you reach kind of 16, you should be able to make your own choices
00:40from that point of view onwards.
00:42I know, but do you let your children drink energy drinks?
00:44Well, they do, but no, I don't like it.
00:46But they're old enough to make their own decisions, so...
00:48Some people like them just for the taste.
00:50Other people, if they're, you know, HGV drivers, chefs,
00:53other professions that are busy, they do need that extra little boost,
00:56and not everybody likes tea or coffee.
00:58Just... No, I bother.
