China on Thursday warned the Philippines of “consequences” if the country did not stop what Beijing deemed “provocations” in the disputed South China Sea.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remark at a daily news briefing when asked about the criticisms launched by the Philippines against what they said was pirate-like behavior by Chinese coast guards against Filipino navy personnel during their supply mission to their territorial outpost in a disputed shoal.
