China on Monday, May 13, denied the Philippines’ allegation that it was building an artificial island in the disputed South China Sea waters.
The Philippine Coast Guard said on Saturday that it had deployed a ship to deter what it called reclamation activities by China on Sabina Shoal, an atoll of the contested Spratly archipelago.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin refuted the claim as “groundless” and “fabricated” at a daily news briefing in Beijing.

00:10trying to mislead the international community.
00:12This kind of behavior is futile.
00:14We urge the U.S. to stop speaking irresponsibly,
00:18to face up to the facts,
00:20and to return to the right track of negotiating and resolving the differences.
