While tornado warnings exist to encourage people to get as far away from the disaster zone as possible, Sophia uses them to get an up-close view of nature's wrath.

"There was a tornado warning in Montgomery County, Maryland," Sophia commented. "I am very passionate about tornadoes, but I’ve never had the chance to see one. I was listening to the radar and the news and heard that a tornado had touched down in Darnestown, which is 10 minutes from my house. So, I took off with my mom, driving to see if we could find the supercell storm.

"As we were driving towards the storm, we ended up in Gaithersburg. Upon reaching the Home Depot, I saw multiple funnels coming down right in front of me."

Instead of being intimidated by the approaching thunderstorm, Sophia claimed that she got up to the roof of the Home Depot to get a clear view of the tornado.

"Once the tornado came too close, we took off," she added.
