Clarksville, TN in shambles after ferocious tornado unleashes wave of destruction

  • last year
Absolute destruction wasn't in short supply when Clarksville, Tennessee, was battered by a raging tornado on December 9, 2023.

This comprehensive video highlights the devastation brought by said tornado, leaving a plethora of damaged houses, collapsed roads, and squashed power lines in its wake.

"Around 2:30 pm, an amber alert went off, giving us a tornado warning," the filmer, Taylor Hendzel, explained to WooGlobe. "A few minutes later, we saw a funnel cloud, and the wind started picking up. Suddenly, the power went out. We were still driving.

"On our way back home, my dad texted my mom, informing her that a tornado had just passed our backyard, breaking our shed and fence."

02:21 - Power line's down.
02:26 Everyone's backyards.
02:28 - There's more.
02:33 - They're mailboxes, bro.
02:37 Power lines.
02:45 - There's some playground we don't need.
02:48 - This is really weird.
03:14 - The thing's on the power lines.
03:16 - Oh no, the one landed on the, someone's truck.
03:24 - Their fence.
03:32 - We're back home and this is the road downtown.
03:42 And since I am back home, I'm gonna show you guys
03:44 my backyard, 'cause that's where I got hit.
03:46 Our patio furniture here, and then our shed
03:50 that was once a shed over there.
03:54 The thing where we had the fire thing near the hot tub.
03:59 And then once we walk over to where there once was a shed,
04:04 is all the pieces where our shed is now.
04:07 And then over there you can see there's a hole
04:10 in someone's roof, a little over there.
04:14 This is serious.
04:15 You can still hear sirens too.
04:19 Okay, now I'll go ahead and show you guys
04:22 the pictures that I took of all the houses and damage.
04:27 That way you guys can get a better look
04:29 at what it looked like.
04:30 Just in case if you guys didn't get a closer look
04:33 of the house that got a hole in it,
04:37 right there where it's circled, you can take a picture.
04:41 Oh, no.
04:42 And then our shed where all the pieces are.
04:46 This is like really sad.
04:47 Oh my God.
04:48 And by the way, one of my friends,
04:51 like three of my friends that I go to school with,
04:54 they live down the street,
04:56 like around the corner where I live.
04:59 And one of my friends, he,
05:01 the storm hit his house really bad.
05:05 It's not as bad as the other houses
05:07 that I'm going to show you, but it's bad.
05:11 Here's the power line.
05:12 The power line is completely down,
05:15 literally across the road.
05:17 And there is the power line tower
05:19 that was once up where it was supposed to be.
05:23 Sad.
05:26 And then we go straight for my street
05:28 and we see this.
05:30 Yeah.
05:33 Their whole roof, top of the house, off.
05:37 And then we also have this picture.
05:39 This is a lot worse.
05:41 This is where the cops were
05:42 because it's one of the worst houses
05:45 that has gone damaged out of like all the houses.
05:49 And this one was also in the video.
05:51 A corner of their like attic space got torn off
05:55 and so has their backyard gate.
05:58 And that's all the photos that I have right now.
06:00 My mom's going to send me some more.
06:03 I know this is a long video, but this is really sad.
06:06 If you want to see what's happening in Clarksville, Tennessee,
06:10 that's where I live, Clarksville, Tennessee.
06:11 I'll put the name right here.
06:13 You can look up on TikTok.
06:14 That's where I saw some of the stuff that was happening
06:18 'cause other people also live here.
06:20 But we're really lucky for our backyard to just be hit
06:26 and not our actual house.
06:29 But one of my friends also,
06:33 who lives like a minute from my house,
06:34 also got their whole side of the house damaged
06:37 and their roof damaged.
06:39 I don't know which house is theirs,
06:41 but I really hope that it's not that bad
06:44 compared to the other houses.
06:46 But people that live in Clarksville or near
06:49 or in Tennessee in general, please stay safe, okay?
06:52 If you guys have any questions
06:55 or anything that you want to say in the comments,
06:58 say it, I don't care, I'll answer.
06:59 Yeah, I'll try and stay safe as much as I can.
