भारतीय जनसंघ के संस्थापक डॉ. श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी की 122वीं जयंती पर केंद्रीय मंत्री और बीजेपी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष जे.पी. नड्डा ने बीजेपी मुख्यालय में पुष्पांजलि अर्पित कर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि दी। इस दौरान जेपी नड्डा ने डॉ. श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी को याद करते हुए कहा उन्होंने जम्मू-कश्मीर का मुद्दा उठाया और कहा कि कोई वजह नहीं है कि आप अनुच्छेद 370 लागू करें। उन्होंने इस्तीफा दिया और नारा दिया, कि एक देश में दो निशान, दो विधान, दो प्रधान ये नहीं चलेगा। इस नारे के साथ उन्होंने सत्याग्रह किया। हम सब जानते हैं कि उस समय जम्मू-कश्मीर जाने के लिए अनुच्छेद 370 के तहत पासपोर्ट की व्यवस्था थी। पास बनते थे लेकिन उन्होंने पास नहीं लिया। उन्हें जम्मू-कश्मीर की सीमा पर रोक दिया गया और जब उन्हें रोककर गिरफ्तार किया गया, उसके करीब एक महीने बाद उन्होंने जम्मू-कश्मीर की जेल में आखिरी सांस ली."
