Josh Berry: ‘The rain was a new opportunity for us’ to climb to a third-place finish

Josh Berry recaps his day in the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford and describes his confidence in the wet-weather tire going forward.

00:00under the red flag, 20th, ultimately finished third. I know you wanted more, though, out

00:05of that restart. The overtime restart. Take me through it. What could you have done differently

00:09now that you look back at it? Yeah, we were debating back and forth on on bottom or top.

00:15You know, I really want to take the front row, but it was just it just seemed slick

00:19down there, right? And I just felt like I'd be stuck racing. Probably chase who had been

00:24an outside kind of like we ended up. Um, honestly, I think I probably just, you know, I really

00:29pushed Christopher out there really hard, and I think that kind of checked my momentum.

00:32And then and then I just got a little loose off of two. I got chased back to my left.

00:36Very kind of drug me back, and we just got stuck racing and you know how to drag race

00:39there to the line. But, yeah, it's like I said earlier, right? The rain was a new opportunity

00:45for us, and we capitalized. The car was really, really good that second half. I mean, we cut

00:49right up through there. So just started out the day really strong and ended strong, too.

00:53And that rain offered the opportunity for some more time on the wet weather tires. What's

00:56your confidence level now that you've seen a lot of racing on them? Yeah, I think I mean,

01:01I think it works well, right? It's definitely it's definitely a challenge, right? It's intense,

01:07but it's so much fun. I find myself riding around in a caution, just like trying to figure

01:11out where the grips at what part of what pavement has grip paint or whether the paint has grip

01:15doesn't have pain. Then you see us running through the water on the front. I mean, I've

01:18never done anything like that in my life, but man, it was so much fun. Our car was our

01:22car was really strong, right? That helps, right? Like there's there's it's not just

01:26us driving it in the rain, right? It takes the adjustments in the air pressures and everything

01:29it takes to make it go on the rain tires. Rodney did a great job. Everyone on the four

01:33teams done a great job. Like I said, we were very strong to start the race, come back at

01:37the end and got us got a third place finish. You know, really solid day. A lot to be proud

01:41of. Just one thing. Minor and everybody. Stuart Haas racing for performance. Everybody's 14.
