The identities of the instigators and traitors behind the Sulu claimants will be made known once all legal appeals are finally settled, says Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

The Minister in charge of Law and Institutional Reforms said this when replying to a question raised by William Leong (PH-Selayang) in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (June 24).

00:00For the information of this noble court, as all Malaysians are aware,
00:05Malaysia has since 2019 faced allegations from 8 Filipino citizens who claimed to be the heirs of Sultan Sulu.
00:13So far, the prosecutor has taken legal action against Malaysia in 4 countries, namely Spain, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
00:23As all of you are aware, on 15 April 2024, the Provisional Court of Madrid has agreed with the court's decision
00:31to sentence Dr. Stampa to 6 months in prison and to be banned from serving as an international ambassador for a year.
00:48Dr. Stampa has lodged an appeal to the Spanish Supreme Court on 24 May 2024,
00:54which is the last chance for him to appeal against his sentence.
01:00The Malaysian government is waiting for instructions and decisions from the next court.
01:05The Malaysian government also wants to emphasize that all the awards that Dr. Stampa has issued
01:11have violated the principles of international public policy,
01:18especially because they violate the principles of Diplomatic Immunity, Jurisdictional Immunity and Sovereignty.
01:27As for the court's decision to sentence Dr. Stampa to 6 months in prison and to be banned from serving as an international ambassador for a year,
01:36the Provisional Court of France has made a decision against the Malaysian government
01:41by cancelling the French court's ruling on 29 September 2021
01:45on the grounds that the international ambassador has acted outside of his jurisdiction.
01:49The court also argued that there is no true international ambassadorship in the 1878 agreement.
01:57The court has lodged an appeal against the decision
02:01to sentence Dr. Stampa to 6 months in prison and to be banned from serving as an international ambassador for a year.
02:07In Luxembourg, for the government's request to challenge the 18 May 2022 executive order on 6 September 2022,
02:17the government has issued an appeal to challenge the decision
02:20and the Luxembourg court has set a date for the hearing of the petitioner on 26 June 2024.
02:28In the Netherlands, on 27 June 2023,
02:31The Hague Court of Appeal has made a decision against the government
02:35by not recognizing and authorizing the final award in the Netherlands.
02:38The petitioner has appealed to the Dutch Supreme Court on 27 September
02:42and the Supreme Court is expected to make a decision on 25 October 2024.
02:46This means that the petitioner has appealed to the government until the end.
02:51So, as a government, we respect the petitioner and give him the right to appeal.
02:56Regarding the timeline, there is no specific timeline that can be estimated
03:00given that the actions taken by the government are related to the proceedings of the law in foreign countries.
03:06The proceedings of the law are related to the provisions and procedures of the law in each country.
03:13Thank you, Mr. President.
03:15Additional questions, Honourable Mr. Selayang.
03:18Thank you.
03:20In taking into consideration the court's decision to acquit Dr. Gonzalo without guilt
03:26regarding the court's institution,
03:29what is the current status for the investigation and criminal proceedings
03:34against the heir to the Sultanate of Sulu and their representative, Paul H. Cohen,
03:40in the police report that has been made by the government against them?
03:46Thank you.
03:47Honourable Minister.
03:48Thank you, Honourable Minister.
03:49Thank you, Honourable Members.
03:50Indeed, as a Malaysian citizen, I believe that all MPs and bipartisans are angry.
03:57However, we have to respect the petitioner's proceedings.
04:01This happened because Mr. Cohen and the litigation firm, Funder Ethereum, were united
04:07and they did not want to answer the questions that we asked
04:11unless the petitioner was resolved.
04:14And I believe, God willing, that if the petitioner is on our side until the last round,
04:19all subsequent actions will be criminal and can be taken against those involved.
04:24And we can also try to recover the costs that we have spent
04:28to defend the dignity of Malaysia and the mutual debt to the people of Sabah.
04:33Thank you.
04:35Honourable CPTOW.
04:37Thank you, Honourable Speaker.
04:44My additional question.
04:46What is the proactive step of the government
04:49so that the demands of Sulu will not be repeated in the future?
04:52And will the Malaysian government take action
04:55on behalf of those who support the demands of Sulu?
05:00Thank you.
05:01Honourable CPTOW, Honourable Speaker.
05:06As for the government, if the demands are from outsiders,
05:10we do not know who will come after this.
05:12Because many have admitted that they are relatives and siblings.
05:16Maybe in the past, in 1878, there were many families.
05:20I do not know.
05:21But we will defend.
05:22Firstly.
05:23Secondly, I have explained the next litigation to the Honourable Court.
05:27But thirdly, I want to emphasize here to all honourable members,
05:30that we are in a process that I cannot provide a strategy
05:34because we know that there are insiders,
05:37and there are insiders from the Malaysian people
05:40who support and help their demands.
05:43This is actually what we will do.
05:46Because for the foreign countries,
05:48the litigation process that is binding on the decision of Dr. Stampa
05:52on the Tibang Tara decision, we will solve it.
05:55But in this country, the insiders and insiders,
05:58this is what we are in the process of doing and looking for them
06:03because we get the news that states that they are the ones
06:07who are actually the ones who help those demands,
06:11who give the actual information.
06:14Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
06:16Dr. Speaker, my question is,
06:18the Malaysian people have said that there is an adventure.
06:21I want to ask, who is that person?
06:24Honourable one, we are in the process that there is an adventure.
06:27If we mention it in the court, how can the adventure run?
06:30Honourable one.
06:31Honourable one, be patient.
06:33Because the legal process is not perfect.
06:35Thank you, Honourable Speaker.
