Spiegel's confidence in the Cubs is 'extremely, extremely low'

The Cubs are 37-41 after losing two of three games to the Mets at Wrigley Field over the weekend.

00:30They had been exposed right there as clearly inferior to what looked then and still does

00:34look like the class of the division, Craig Council's former team, the Brewers.

00:39But even at that point at 29 and 29 after losing two or three, it's like, okay, they

00:44have 25 games in a row coming against teams that are under 500 and they are 21 games into

00:52that stretch.

00:53Their record is nine and 12 Marshall.

00:56They're nine and 12 in this stretch where they have to make hay.

01:00They have four left in San Francisco and then it gets harder again, six against the Brewers

01:05and the Phillies ending June and beginning July in July.

01:10There are road series at Baltimore.

01:13There's a road series at St. Louis who's now two games over 500.

01:16There's a road series at Kansas city in July.

01:20You know, this was the month and the time for them to make, Hey, yes, the calendar says

01:25there's still time, but man, they do not look like a good baseball team.

01:29And the schedule gave them an opportunity that they have not taken.

01:33Now I agree with you on your overall sentiment.

01:35Like their record should be better over this stretch so far, but just to add a little bit

01:39of context, the teams that are below 500 that they're playing are playing better baseball.

01:45So you're running into a Cardinals team that you just mentioned on a way up, right?

01:49And they, they use the cubs to do some of that, but the Mets had one seven of eight

01:53coming into the series.

01:54So I think it's a, it's a couple of things.

01:57They are a middling team playing other middling teams and they're just getting out middled
