00:00So ask those questions that, you know, if you don't know the answers to, that's okay.
00:04When I think about the CMO role, whether it's at JPMorgan Chase, coming in newly in the
00:15last two and a half years, or any other CMO role that I've had, I think one of the best
00:19pieces of advice that I've been given is don't think that you need to have all the answers.
00:25You know, so we get to a certain point in our careers, and because we're the most senior
00:29person in the room, sometimes we feel like we've got to know everything, got to have
00:33an answer for everything.
00:34And the reality is, we don't.
00:35In a lot of cases, frankly, it's actually better that we don't have the answers.
00:39And so the idea of being vulnerable, being able to say, I don't know, right, I'll get
00:43that answer for you, or even in a moment in time to put your hand up and say, can somebody
00:48explain that to me, you'd be very, very surprised how disarming that is to the entire room,
00:54and how much better the conversations are when they know that the most senior person
00:58in the room actually doesn't necessarily know all the answers.
01:02To me, it's surrounding myself with the people that know all the answers, that are way, way,
01:06way smarter than me, that can actually get to better outcomes.
01:09But I think that's probably the biggest opportunity I see when it comes to, particularly when
01:15you're coming into an organization new for the first time, is listen.
01:20And I always say you have two ears and one mouth for a reason.
01:23So listen and ask those questions that, you know, if you don't know the answers to, that's
01:28okay.
