00:00So pub trade is dying out. I was a waitress in a really popular one and there is somebody that
00:05sort of bought up a lot of the pubs around there. It's not so much a visible chain but you do find
00:11people with money will buy them up and it creates lesser opportunities for maybe
00:16other people that live there. So I do see it as a problem and look at Weatherspoons,
00:22the way they treated their staff over the lockdown. Clearly with chain pubs, if I might
00:26use Weatherspoons as an example, I don't particularly use them because I fundamentally
00:33disagree with the political stance of the owner. That said, certainly where I live in Penarth,
00:38it provides a community hub and also reasonably priced drinks in pubs. I think the problem is
00:46pints are so expensive and I don't think many people have a positive opinion on chain pubs.
00:54I don't think they're standing in the way. I think there's other barriers stopping independent pubs.
