00:00Now we go to the Eastern Conference and the cornerstone of the Raptors franchise now,
00:04and for many years to come, at least expected. Scotty Barnes intends to sign
00:09a five-year, $270 million Rookie Max extension to stay in Toronto and become the highest paid
00:17player in the history of this Raptors franchise. When we were breaking things down very quickly in
00:23our opening segment in that 7-7, I think you said overpaid? Do you feel that way about Scotty Barnes?
00:30Well, just about everybody is going to be overpaying the NBA with that new money coming
00:33in here, but it's just shocking when you see it first here with some of these first contracts
00:37coming through. Like a very good basketball player, I'm not doubting his skills at all,
00:40on a very bad basketball team gets that bag. It's almost like you would expect this to be
00:45on the Boston Celtics. Like, hey, Tatum is going to get five for $270. Yeah, makes some sense.
00:49He just won the championship. They're a great basketball team. Jalen Brown makes a ton of money.
00:52That's when you want to go all in as a franchise. I understand he's a building block towards the
00:57future there, but it's just astounding to see that like, wow, this guy is five years $270
01:01on a bad basketball team at this point. So we'll see what they do in the future at this point.
01:05Again, very good player, but this money is going to be out of pocket over the next two to three
01:10seasons, which guys are going to be like, what? He makes how much? It's just the way it is.
