Assange's release 'cherry on top of a handsome birthday cake,' says father

The father of recently-freed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who turns 53 on July 3, said his son’s release is a “treasure”, and praised Australian lawmakers for their support.
“That is the cherry on top of a very, very handsome birthday cake, that Julian can come home to Australia and see his family regularly and do the ordinary things of life, is a treasure,” said John Shipton on Wednesday (June 26).
