00:00We're here at Yardball with Oliver Booth, one of the co-founders.
00:05Oliver, can you tell me a little bit about Yardball and the concept behind it?
00:09Yes, of course.
00:10So this is a restaurant slash bar slash caf, which we've called, obviously it's going to
00:17be called The Greening, based on the amazing paper from the 80s and 90s.
00:22We've got a few karaoke rooms on the right hand side.
00:25We've got party rooms down further down there for all the kids' parties.
00:29This is the area where you'll be able to grab a bite to eat and drink after you've been
00:34in the main area, which is the challenge zone.
00:36So we'll pop through there and have a look at that now.
00:54Excuse some of the noise, we're having some work still done.
01:00So this is the main football challenge area.
01:04We've got about 20 different challenges.
01:08Everything is based around the 80s and 90s and it's where we made our memories and played
01:15football on the street, played football in garages and had loads of fun as kids.
01:20We've found everything based on sort of landmarks from our actual childhood.
01:26The garages there are all based on the garages that Scott used to play on when he was a kid.
01:30The Labour Social over this corner, this is a reference base and a pub that we used to
01:35play football on.
01:37And all the different challenges are based on taking different shots.
01:41We've got some that are more delicate, little loft shots.
01:44We've got other ones further up here where you can really put your foot through it, soccer
01:47aim style, and try and find the top bin.
01:51We've got other ones where you can play as a team.
01:53You can play with your friends.
01:55So the crossbar challenge in the park over there, three or four people can quite easily
01:59play that together.
02:01And then moving further on, right into the back, is where we go into the sort of culture
02:06of the nightlife in Sheffield where we've got all things based on the battle of the bands
02:11of the 90s and straight through to rave music and the amazing music scene in Sheffield with
02:17the Republic.
02:21So every set that we've designed and built is a target.
02:31In effect, you can aim for literally any different part of it that you want to.
02:35Some are speakers, some are holes in the wall, some are through doors, some are bins in nets.
02:42Anything will be a target and each one will have different points.
02:46So when you come with your friends and your family, you can have a little bit of friendly
02:49competitiveness, go for different shots and ultimately try and get the top score.
02:54Are you able to have a go at a couple of your favourites?
02:56Yeah, indeed, let's go.
03:20So you can go for, these ones are targets, so top corner targets, you can go and try
03:24and get the beneath one, you can pop it over the wall if you want.
03:31And as well as these bigger ones here, we've got smaller charges as well, where we can
03:36go and do smaller little individual targets.
03:40So this one's quite a fun one.
03:42This is the final round based on obviously having serviced 30 times.
03:47The trick here is to try and get it into the top area of the trophies.
03:51If he hits it too far, he'll go straight over.
03:59And you were saying one of the other favourites is the speed of the...
04:03The speed shot's a great one, yeah.
04:05Have a look at that.
04:18Perfect.
04:22The speed shot, this one gets ultra competitive when there's a group of people in.
04:27So this one is a pure shot of power, see if we can get the top score.

04:37This has been really better than that.
04:41It's getting worse.
04:43As soon as people get on this though, this is where the people are going to go for it.
04:46And yeah, when are you opening?
04:48So the plan is to open mid-July, the 15th.
04:51So we've just opened the booking system, so you can book to come from then on in.
04:56We will be offering packages for families, doing kids parties, corporate events, all sorts of stuff.
