The most satisfying holiday sounds include unzipping the luggage, pouring a drink into an empty glass of ice – and suitcase wheels rolling along the floor.
A poll of 2,000 holidaymakers found the turning of a book page, crashing waves, and the noise of a cork popping also ranked high in a list of the top 20.
Others immediately think of a trip away when they hear the sizzle of breakfast cooking, a buzzy atmosphere, or the splash of a swimming pool.
While the sound of cocktails being made and the ding of a lift also made the cut, with 51 per cent associating specific noises with a holiday.
It comes as the ultimate holiday ASMR video has been created, capturing the most appealing things we typically hear when we’re on holiday.
Tony Roberts, chief commercial officer for Warner Hotels which commissioned the research and video, said: “Whether it’s the sound of a suitcase unzipping, the sound of birds singing, or the bubble of a hot tub, you just can’t beat the sounds of a holiday."

00:00Annual leave is so precious. We want to make the most of it, but it can be hard to switch
00:07off. Research has shown that it can take us until day three to truly relax. I'm here with
00:12Premier Inn to share my tips and tricks to take the stress out of holidays and put the
00:16excitement back in. We want you to enjoy your trip from day one.
00:29I'm really bad at packing. Do you have any advice?
00:32Yes, lots. If you're travelling with small children, get one of the hanging foldable
00:37shoe organisers and then you can lay it on the floor. You can fold up their clothes in
00:42outfits and stuff it in each pocket. Then when you get to your destination, you just
00:45need to hang it on the door and then you've got all their outfits ready to go. Another
00:49tip for travelling with the family would be to use packing cubes, but colour code them
00:54so each member of the family has a colour each. Then you can just hand them out in your
00:57destination and you can use one suitcase for everyone.
01:01I haven't travelled much before. How would you suggest that I keep more organised?
01:05I'd recommend that as soon as you've booked your holiday, you get a list started and then
01:09you can book your airport parking, you can book your travel insurance, you can book everything
01:13you need to do with going on holiday. Then on the actual day of your trip, I'd recommend
01:18wearing a bum bag. You can just wear it across your body so you've got easy access to your
01:22phone and your passport in the airport.
01:25I'm getting really stressed before going on holiday. Do you have any tips or advice
01:30on how to get into holiday more quickly?
01:33I'd recommend booking into an airport hotel the night before. That way you're there and
01:37you're ready, you can just enjoy the bar and the restaurant and then in the morning you
01:41can get up, have a breakfast and wander over. Some airlines let you check in your luggage
01:45the night before if you have a morning flight, saving you even more hassle in the morning.
01:49Really exciting getting ready for a holiday.
01:52I'm a total stress head.
01:54One of my main tips for packing is to pack lightly and to colour coordinate your outfits.
