00:00At the right hand of outgoing European Council President Charles Michel,
00:04President Volodymyr Zelensky sang the praises of the EU
00:08and its solidarity with Ukraine since the Russian invasion.
00:11Europe has proven that it can be efficient
00:15and I thank you for that, thank you for your support.
00:19I am grateful for this historic Belgium presidency of the EU
00:24and I wish the next one, the Hungarian presidency, to be effective.
00:29This after signing a security agreement with the EU,
00:33one intended to future-proof the bloc's support for Ukraine.
00:37For the first time, this agreement will enshrine the commitment
00:40of all 27 member states to provide Ukraine with extensive support,
00:45regardless of any internal institutional changes.
00:48Among those changes, perhaps, the imminent Hungarian presidency
00:52of the European Council, starting on the 1st of July.
00:56This as Hungary's Viktor Orban appears to be courting
00:59an ever-closer relationship with Russia.
01:01Also ahead of parliamentary elections,
01:04which could turn the tables for Europe's second economic power, France,
01:08and which could see the appointment of a far-right prime minister
01:11from the National Rally, a party with close ties to Moscow.
01:15Zelensky's trip to Brussels comes just days after formal negotiations began
01:19for Ukraine's EU membership.
