00:00Hi I'm Bradley. I'm Caitlin. And welcome to Gravatt EE Karting at Escape Yorkshire. We opened in
00:06October 2022. We run sessions seven days a week aimed mainly towards families to get young people
00:14in karting. We can have people come in from the age of four all the way up to we've had 70 and
00:2080 year olds on track. I've been karting all my whole life national, international level as well.
00:27Try to bring as much in as I can. All the knowledge I've gained over the years. Try keep
00:31the fleet as good as they can being one of the best in the country. I've not got any experience
00:36personally so I've pretty much learned as I've come into this role and it's been really interesting
00:41to figure out like the electric karts versus the petrol karts and things like that. So obviously
00:45we run electric karts which is quite easier to drive than what a petrol kart would be. So yeah
00:50I've learned a lot of knowledge on the job. We run Biz EcoVolt GT karts. They're the top level of
00:55electric karts you can get around here. Battery lasts unbelievably long on them. They handle
01:04pretty well with the mitres tyres. The immediate feedback after they come off the track is that
01:09they've really enjoyed themselves and they almost think that the eight minutes has gone by really
01:13quick because you don't realise how long you're actually on there for. You can get quite a few
01:17amount of laps in. You get a lot of competitive people where they're trying to beat their family
01:22and friends. So not only have we got the leader board for like a general overview of customers,
01:27they like to be the winner of their race as well which is why we've got the podium so they can take
01:31a quick picture after their race. For anyone who's nervous about going karting, it's like riding a
01:36bike. The kart isn't going to do anything you don't tell it to do. You've got two pedals,
01:41one for each foot and all you've got to do is turn the wheel. There's no gears,
01:45no clutch, very easy for any children to just jump in and pick it up. Because they are electric we
01:51are able to control the speed via a remote so we're able to slow the family's sessions down
01:57just so they're able to adjust to the karts and get a feel of what it is like driving a go-kart.
02:03In terms of beginners, so you do have a quick safety briefing before you go on which does
02:08explain all the rules and things like that. It can be quite overwhelming to start with but as
02:13soon as you've got that first lap under your belt then it can get a lot easier from there.
02:17Like Bradley said we've only got two pedals so it does help for kids being able to drive.
02:23But yeah in terms of like safety we are able to slow the karts down if anyone wants to crash
02:28so we're able to control that speed remotely just to stop any further accidents from there. It's
02:34quite a fun activity to do, it's something different not in this area. Like Bradley said
02:39we're open to all ages from four so it's just a fun activity to do with your family and also
02:46you can do it as a night out with your staff or you can do it as a meeting and it's also we've got
02:52pro sessions which are from 12 and above so if you want in a bit of a
02:56quicker race then you're able to come along to that one as well.
