00:12Floodwaters rose to dangerous levels, cutting off roads and causing traffic chaos following
00:17heavy rain that started at about noon.
00:21Electricity supply was also cut in the affected areas, with Sabah Electricity Sendirian Berhad
00:26officials saying they had to switch off electricity, especially in Penampang.
00:32The situation was also compounded by the high tide at about 4pm.
00:46Many residents of Penampang said they were unable to return to their homes as their vehicles
00:51failed to pass through due to the floods.
00:59Other residents living in Limbanak and Inanam said they experienced power outages and the
01:04road in the areas were inaccessible.
01:07The Penampang district office declared the district a disaster area, while various authorities
01:12said they had started operations to save lives and evacuating the flood victims.
01:17The Malaysia Meteorological Department said many parts of Sabah, including Sipitang, Tenom,
01:23Keningau and Tawau, will experience severe weather with heavy rain until 1am on Monday.
