00:00Hi Jermaine, so Usher is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and you are very closely with him
00:07Yeah, so what does that mean for you as being his longtime producer?
00:10You say what now? What does that mean to you that he's being honored as his longtime producer?
00:15I
00:16mean, it's like a dream come true of something that you know being a guy that was sitting there from the beginning and
00:22Having these conversations with him at every night in the studio and saying, you know
00:27I hope we make records that get us to this point and I hope we I hope you become the artists that this
00:32That people talk about and do this with
00:36All of those things we we had these conversations. So to be here and see it happening
00:43I couldn't miss it and I'm excited about I'm excited for him for this
00:47You have worked with other great artists like escape and I feel like you keep your ear to the streets
00:53You have a very good ear for music. So when it comes to
00:56Maintaining relevancy as far as the modern sound how do you integrate like the skills that you've developed over the years?
01:02Um, you don't pay attention to the once you the algorithm you the algorithm. That's what it is
01:08I just I view myself as the algorithm. I don't really view myself as a time place or whatever was time space
01:14I what I did for us I could do for somebody else and what I did for somebody else I could do for that person
01:19So I just that when you got out of belief, it's just what it is
01:22And I know you're from the South you're from Atlanta, but when you hear a day not like us what does that mean to you
01:28It means a lot because I'm from the South but they not like us from the South
01:32so it means a lot of different things, but
01:35Yes a lot
01:36It's a lot of things that we move a lot of ways that we move a lot of things we go by in the South
01:40That that resonates with me
