A severe turbulence incident on July 1st affected an Air Europa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flying from Madrid to Montevideo, injuring at least 30 passengers. One passenger was thrown into an overhead luggage compartment. The aircraft made an emergency landing in Natal, Brazil, where medical personnel attended to the injured, some of whom had serious injuries like cervical fractures and facial injuries. The airline confirmed the incident and is assessing the aircraft's damage.
