00:00We have loads of roofs that are off.
00:03We have, you know, we have no power.
00:05It's been a challenging 24 hours, as you could imagine.
00:09I'm not used to this kind of weather.
00:11This is actually the strongest storm
00:14that we've had come through St. Vincent in my lifetime.
00:18And I hope that I don't have another one.
00:22And to be fair, this wasn't even a direct hit.
00:25The eye of the storm was closer down
00:27to Karapu and Grenada.
00:30We basically got the northeastern quadrant,
00:34where we got loads of wind and rain and stuff.
00:36So I shudder to think what it would be like
00:39if we actually had a direct hit,
00:42sitting in the house, looking at the roof.
00:45And you can, the wind was just constant.
00:49You could hear the galvanized on the roof,
00:51just having its own conversation.
00:54And you're really just hoping for the best.
00:56And all around me, there were houses in the village.
01:00Their roofs were flying past.
01:01You could see it passing.
01:03It was just a terrifying experience.
01:08Once you've experienced it, then you know.
01:11But until then, trust me, it's crazy.
01:15I am worried because it seems as though
01:18it's going to be a very active one.
01:21But I'm just hoping for the best.
01:23I'm hoping that, you know, the trade winds pick up
01:27and I'm hoping that we have that upward trough
01:29that we usually have,
01:30that usually keeps St. Vincent and the Grenadines safe.
01:33You know, this wall used to be the perimeter fence
01:35for Massey Supermarket.
01:37And basically, this is what we have now.
01:40The water came up and there was basically seawater
01:43everywhere in this compound yesterday.
01:45So this is just a little, you know,
01:48taste of the damage that we've had.
01:50As I said, there are roofs off everywhere.
01:53I don't think there's any body on the island
01:55or even in the Grenadines who can say
01:57that they haven't been affected
01:59in one way or the other by this storm.
