00:00Talking about Donald Trump and his policies,
00:02more often than not, they have been seen as,
00:06you know, something which might or might not be possible
00:10to pull off, like making that wall across the Mexican border.
00:13He talked about it.
00:15He had a very strong stand against the migrant crisis
00:21that was happening, the migrants coming in.
00:23Now, the poll positioning, or the SOPs
00:27that Donald Trump is mentioning or promising
00:31in his campaigns is about the immigrants
00:33and about the green card that would be handed over
00:35about the permanent residency things for United States,
00:40for those who come from outside the United States.
00:42How do you see Trump striking a balance between the two,
00:46his hardened stand against migrants
00:49and also his SOPs for the green cards?
00:52At the end of the day, I'm a legal immigrant.
00:55I came to the United States in 1996
00:58with my mother as a child.
01:00I fought hard to keep and stay legal,
01:04and we did as a family, moving from status to status.
01:08I'm a personal example of a legal immigrant.
01:11My family, during the last war,
01:13that was the first war that was started in Ukraine in 2014,
01:16had to wait two years for an interview
01:18to be able to bring my grandparents to the United States.
01:22So skipping the line is not acceptable,
01:25and Trump understands that,
01:27and that's why a lot of legal immigrants like me
01:30understand and support his policies.
01:32There is a place for immigrants in America.
01:36It's a melting pot in a country of immigrants just like me,
01:40but there is not a place for criminals.
01:42There is not a place for other countries
01:45to send their prisoners and their trash to our country.
01:48Now, there is a serious question that we have to look at
01:51when we assess immigrants,
01:53and that's the fact that there are millions
01:55of illegal immigrants that have been in the United States
01:57for years on end that are hard workers,
02:00that prop up a huge backbone of the economy,
02:03and it's hard to deny that.
02:05From house cleaners to cooks,
02:08they're embedded and ingrained
02:09in every aspect of our society,
02:11and for those people, I truly believe
02:13there has to be a pathway to citizenship.
02:15I think Trump acknowledges that
02:17and will eventually create a pathway
02:18for people that have a clean record,
02:20that have been in the United States for years.
02:22You cannot deport all those people,
02:24but as far as the criminals,
02:26as far as the thugs that are being sent here
02:28from prisons in other countries,
02:30there's no room for them,
02:31and we've seen in the news just in the last two weeks,
02:35there was a 13-year-old American citizen
02:37who was raped by two immigrants and killed.
02:40There was a mother, had multiple children.
02:43She was murdered on a hiking trail in the woods.
02:45In my own home state of Georgia,
02:48we had a nurse who was murdered by an illegal immigrant.
02:53The American people deserve better,
02:55so I think your question goes to,
02:57can the policies become reality?
02:59They can and they have become reality,
03:01and Democrats were largely opposed to building the wall
03:04and put up every block that they could.
03:06Unfortunately, we have forgotten
03:09what it means to be American.
03:10We have forgotten what it means
03:12to work on both sides of the aisle,
03:14and we've forgotten what it means
03:16to put the American people first
03:17instead of politics,
03:19and I certainly hope that we can get back to that
03:21in the next four years.
