00:00Welcome to Barnsley's Big Weekend 2023.
00:12On Friday we had Barnsley Girls Global, which was absolutely brilliant.
00:15We had a Philharmonic Orchestra, some dancers, and some Taiko drummers from Japan.
00:20They actually ended up performing in the Lightbox, but they sounded absolutely fabulous, so amazing.
00:26What's happening today?
00:27It's all about music, isn't it? Celebrating and brass, brass in main, brass don't.
00:31We've got lots of Gugan bands here, we've got brass bands, we've got wind bands,
00:35and right from young people, right through to more experienced performers as well.
00:39Pretty much watched all the bands. It was a really good day, yeah, it's been really fun.
00:44Just saying it's been such a fantastic weekend.
00:46There's so many players in the Barnsley Met band, so we always go and support them,
00:49and a fantastic performance, and great to have Grenfell Colliery Band,
00:53and they're brassed off at the cinema, it's just great.
00:56So, welcome to Barnsley Pride. We're at Mandela Gardens, and we've been here since 12 o'clock,
01:02so we've had an array of acts from local residents in Barnsley, so singers, drag queens,
01:10but yeah, it's been a really good day, despite the rain.
01:14Big weekend, it's just been fantastic. We've had a wonderful time, we've had our guests here,
01:20from Germany and Austria and Bournemouth, and they've just been blown away by how fantastically well it's been in Barnsley.
01:32Oh yeah, it's brilliant now. Now that everything's been done, it's absolutely brilliant.
01:36It's like you're flying, it's absolutely amazing. You come back into reality, but why not, it's fabulous.
01:44We're here on the Sunday, the big weekend, it's the What's Your Move Sports Day.
01:47We've got loads of great activities, as you can see behind me. We've got the BMX scooter ramp-up programme,
01:53we've also got a climbing wall, we've got Zorb, we've got BPL here promoting all the activities that they deliver.
02:01Red's in the community, and we've got loads and loads of things to get people active and thinking about how they're going to spend their smaller days.
02:08So I'm here to promote, basically, the What's Your Move, and all these kids that are getting out and using these ramps.
02:13I think schemes like this are really important.
02:16It's great to see all the families and kids out today, and I've got to say Barnsley's super centre.
02:21I'm biased because I was born here, but it's the best town centre in the north.
02:25It's really good to see everyone out and about, enjoying themselves, being active.
