00:00The MMDA targeted the rioters on the streets near Batasan,

00:05especially a few weeks before the President's State of the Nation Address.

00:09Oscar Oida was there.

00:14The MMDA Special Operations Strike Force set off early in the morning

00:17on the streets of Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

00:21The first target was the ones in front of a hardware store.

00:25The truck was supposed to escape, but the MMDA stopped it.

00:30As far as I know, parking is allowed.

00:32That's why I parked on the side.

00:34But it's not allowed.

00:36The MMDA's paraded on the sidewalks.

00:41On Commonwealth Avenue and Batasan Road,

00:44the truck was last to hit the products in the nearby market.

00:49While on the sidewalks of Batasan Road,

00:53workers and goods were taken from some stores.

00:56Illegal vehicles were also parked on the service road

01:00in front of Batasan National High School.

01:03The service road, as we said,

01:05it helps to decongest the major toro fair.

01:07So if there are vehicles parked illegally,

01:10it will defy the purpose of having a service road.

01:13The clearing operation in the area

01:15was also prepared for the President's zone on July 22.

01:20It's also important that there are no obstructions on the side of the road

01:23and especially on the sidewalks.

01:25The Quezon City Traffic and Transport Management Office

01:28has a number of clearing ops.

01:30But the long-term plan here is...

01:33We will help the barangays to capacitate themselves

01:36to have a traffic management program

01:39to include one-side parking, one-way, and installation of signages

01:44on their roads.

01:46There is also a separate operation

01:49on the street of Barangay Valencia, Quezon City.

01:51Illegal vehicles were parked

01:53and vehicles passed through the sidewalks.

01:55As regard to the road widening issue,

01:57plus this has become a living area,

02:00so we've been giving them consideration already

02:04that they should just block the sidewalks

02:06despite the fact that the sidewalks

02:08are for pedestrians.

02:10So they should just block them

02:12since there is still an issue

02:14as regard to the road widening issue,

02:16the measurement of the road,

02:18why are you still passing through the road itself?

02:20We saw that there is a bike lane here.

02:22That's too much.

02:24This happened yesterday.

02:26Up to 32 vehicles were towed

02:28while up to 71 were blocked.
