00:00you get to stay up a little later.
00:02Hooray!
00:03Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the moments
00:07when the Heeler family truly connected with their audience,
00:10mimicked real life,
00:12or acknowledged that they're cartoon dogs.
00:14That sounds like hard work.
00:16How so?
00:18Number 10.
00:19Bandit's stage directions.
00:21It's just another day in the Heeler home.
00:24Bluey and Bingo are playing when suddenly,
00:26Bandit enters the room and says, unprovoked,
00:29Dad enters the room.
00:30His family probably just sees it as him being his usual goofy self,
00:34but viewers can recognize he's reading his stage directions from the script.
00:38We can't help but ponder what made Bandit decide to say his intro cue out loud.
00:43It means I've been around long enough to know exposing my rear end to you
00:47isn't a good idea.
00:48Was it to help him remember,
00:50or did he just want to make a big entrance to make sure that everyone was paying attention?
00:55Either way, it got a giggle out of us,
00:57and it was nice of him to help us keep track of what was going on.
01:00Yeah!
01:01Oh man, is it too late to bend over?
01:04Number 9.
01:05Hooray!
01:06Hooray!
01:07Wow!
01:08When something good or exciting happens in the show,
01:11the characters often throw their hands in the air and exclaim,
01:15in delight.
01:16It's become a fun running gag and staple for the series,
01:19but if you look closely, it doubles as a fourth wall break.
01:23This word being excitedly shouted is typically accompanied by
01:26at least one of the characters looking towards the camera,
01:29possibly encouraging the viewers to cheer with them.
01:33It's a small detail, but once you notice it,
01:36it's hard to forget,
01:37and will hopefully inspire the audience to join in and match the cast's enthusiasm.
01:44Number 8.
01:45Product placement?
01:46Oh good, because this is actually embarrassing.
01:50Bluey, Bingo, and Bandit are finishing their shopping at the supermarket,
01:53but look closely at one of the shelves as they pass through the toy section.
01:57You might notice something eerily familiar about two of the play sets for sale.
02:01The box art for these looks almost exactly like the Healer House,
02:05and there's even a little figurine of what looks like Bluey on display.
02:09Did the show sneak in one of their real-life play sets into the episode?
02:12Just check it a bit closer.
02:14Fine!
02:15This wouldn't be the last time they did this,
02:17as they put one of their books into the background in the quiet game.
02:21If this is Bluey's version of product placement,
02:23we can respect their subtlety.
02:25How did it get in there?
02:27Number 7.
02:28Did Bluey age?
02:29Bandit wants to teach Bluey how to play chess,
02:32but Chilly thinks their daughter isn't old enough for that quite yet.
02:35And so probably a bit old for Bluey, right?
02:38When Bluey says how old she is,
02:39Bandit asks the following in amazement.
02:42Are you still six?
02:43Wow!
02:44On the surface, this is just the dad being cheeky.
02:47But when you think about it,
02:48we're on season three at this point,
02:50and Bluey is still six?
02:52It's an age-old cartoon trope.
02:54Kid characters often don't age until the plot demands it.
02:57But to see Bluey acknowledge the trope and call it out is remarkable.
03:01I'm almost seven.
03:02Well, I reckon that's old enough.
03:04Thankfully, this doesn't last as we see Bluey celebrating her birthday later on.
03:10Number 6.
03:11Bandit is his own worst enemy.
03:13I ain't going nowhere until your mom and I are together.
03:17Aw, man.
03:18It looks like it's going to be another day of chaos in the Heeler household,
03:22with Bandit acting as Unicorse for the kids.
03:24You know what, kids?
03:25Don't listen to Unicorse.
03:27What? Why not?
03:28Anticipating the hilarity,
03:30the dad kind of turns to us and admits that he does this to himself.
03:33The thing is, I do this to myself.
03:36Consider the madness that unfolds whenever Bandit takes part in the girls' games,
03:40usually at his own expense.
03:42No one's telling him to jump through hoops the whole time,
03:44but he adorably does it anyway for the entertainment of his kids.
03:48Still, it's nice of him to reach out to viewers, and himself,
03:52and admit that he's his own worst enemy.
03:54Bandit is a trooper for that alone.
03:57Number 5.
03:58Confusion.
03:59It seems like now and then,
04:01something occurs that's too confusing for even the Heeler gang.
04:06The parents could be confused by their kids' games or strange questions.
04:10Conversely, the kids could be puzzled by their peers'
04:13weird actions or random mumblings.
04:20When this happens, the perplexed individual's reaction
04:22is often to glance at the audience.
04:25It's hard to tell if they're sharing our own looks of confusion,
04:28or if they're hoping that we'll have the answers to what's going on.
04:35Sorry to say, Heelers and Company,
04:37but if you don't know, we definitely don't either.
04:40Still, we can't deny the reactions are amusing.
04:47Number 4.
04:48It was the rug, by the way.
04:49When Bingo gets an episode all to herself,
04:52she has trouble finding something to play on her own.
04:57She tries I Spy at one point,
04:59but realizes it's not exactly a one-person game.
05:02She then looks directly into the camera and tells us,
05:05It was rug, by the way.
05:07We love that Bingo took the time to tell us what was on her mind.
05:10It's too bad that as viewers, we couldn't help her with her loneliness,
05:14but at least she ultimately learned to make her own fun.
05:17Still, we'd do anything to properly play a full game of I Spy with her one day.
05:24Number 3.
05:25Cartoon Dog
05:27While putting a swing together,
05:28Chili is reading instructions featuring a cartoon dog.
05:32Bandit just shrugs them off, saying,
05:34I'm not taking advice from a cartoon dog.
05:36Who's going to tell him?
05:38The irony of him saying this while he himself is a cartoon dog is hilarious alone,
05:43but it doubles as a nod to the show's audience.
05:46While Bluey is primarily marketed to kids,
05:48parents and other viewers find themselves taking cues from the healers
05:52and gaining helpful tips and insights.
05:54To bring the point home,
05:56Bandit and Chili end up following the illustration's directions,
05:59and it works.
06:00So take that, Bandit.
06:02You should take advice from animated pooches.
06:08Number 2.
06:09Title Card Mistakes and Changes
06:15In a way, having the title cards read aloud counts as a fourth wall break
06:19since it involves the character saying the episode's name.
06:26However, now and then, the title drops don't always go as planned.
06:30One character could give up reading it altogether,
06:32I don't know what that says, I can't read!
06:35or someone could change the episode's name at the drop of a hat.
06:38Along with being a hilarious break in the routine,
06:41these little twists imply that the healers are conscious
06:44that they're in a cartoon.
06:45Regardless, it's nice to hear they're always eager
06:48to read the episode titles for their younger audiences,
06:50even if they don't always get it right.
06:53This episode of Bluey is cool, I forget.
06:56Before we unveil our top pick,
06:58here are a few honorable mentions.
07:00Interrupted Title Card
07:02Bandit steps in to get out of playing a game.
07:10Leela and the Audience
07:12Leela tells us about how she met Bingo.
07:18Batman
07:18Apparently, the Dark Knight exists in Bluey.

07:51It's bedtime for Bluey after a whole day of playing with Unicorse.
07:54The Outrageous Puppet asks Bluey if she's a puppet.
07:59Which the young girl just laughs off.
08:04However, that night, Bluey has a strange dream.
08:07A time-lapse where the episode's final scene is fully rigged,
08:10animated and rendered right before the final product plays.
08:14To her, it's just a strange dream.
08:16But to us, it's a fun look into the process of bringing the healer's adventures to life.
08:21It makes us appreciate how much effort is put into the show's production.
08:25But let's not tell Bluey that it wasn't a dream.
08:28We're not sure she's ready to learn that she really is a puppet of sorts.
08:31Wow, that was a weird dream.
08:33What do you think was the most wackadoo fourth wall break?
08:36Let us know in the comments.
08:39It's a long story.
