00:00Good evening, it's Richard Hunt here at the Marine Hall in Fleetwood. I'm here for the count for the Blackpool North and Fleetwood constituency.
00:10Here the seat when it was Blackpool North in Cleveland was held by the Conservative Paul Maynard and he held it quite comfortably.
00:19The last time in December 2019 he obtained more than 50% of the vote.
00:25Things have rather changed since then. The Conservative vote has fallen away and also the constituency here in Fleetwood, it's Blackpool North and Fleetwood rather than Blackpool North and Cleveland.
00:35There has been a boundary change. Fleetwood has been known for quite a heavy Labour vote so it throws a few things into the mix and it remains to be seen how the changes that are happening in the country are going to reflect things here.
00:49Quite an interesting mix of candidates. We've got eight no less standing here. We've got Mr Maynard for the Conservatives. Lorraine Beavers, well known in Fleetwood as a Fleetwood Labour councillor.
00:59She's the Labour candidate obviously. Dan Barker from Reform UK. Bill Green, the Liberal Democrat. Tina Rothery, environmentalist, standing for the Green Party.
01:08Understandably. Gita Gordon, an Independent. Jan Creswell, Social Democrat Party. And then last but not least, James Anthony Rust, also known as Crackers Count Corrosion of Forlorn Hope.
01:23And obviously you might be able to guess, he stands for the Monster Raving Loony Party. All very interesting. Eight candidates in all. None of them have arrived yet.
01:32The boxes for counting haven't arrived either. It's a bit of a waiting game but I'm told it won't be too long before they come. So let's see what happens. You'll be hearing from me a bit later on. Bye for now.
