00:00So congratulations, what are the feelings right now?
00:03Absolutely delighted, it is an incredible honour to be elected to represent such a wonderful,
00:08rich historical area such as ours and people have been really struggling across the back
00:12country for a long time under the Conservative government and Labour is going to bring change
00:17to our region, change to our country.
00:18What are the five priorities you've got now that you've been elected?
00:22So the key things that people raise with me every single day during this campaign but
00:26also in the years and years that I've been involved in politics in West Bromwich is cost
00:29of living.
00:30People are working so hard, even two jobs sometimes and they cannot pay their bills,
00:34we've got to do something about that and help people.
00:36Number two, NHS.
00:37Across the constituency people can't get a GP appointment, even if you have cancer sometimes
00:41it can take months and months and months to get a referral, we've got to sort that out.
00:45We don't see enough police on our streets, you know, people don't feel safe in our town
00:49centres and that's a critical one for me.
00:51Investment, we want to have good jobs, good well-paid jobs and thriving high streets so
00:55that's a big one as well.
00:56What difference is a Labour government going to make, not just within Samwell but do you
01:00think nationally?
01:01I think we're going to get the NHS back on its feet which is the number one priority
01:04for so many people.
01:05That means more appointments every week, it means more nurses, more doctors and also more
01:09dentists because people in West Bromwich, Oldbury, they really struggle to get a dentist
01:12appointment at the moment.
01:13And we're also going to have a huge green industrial revolution with GB Energy which
01:18is going to be bringing down energy bills and creating renewable power.
01:20So we've got big plans for investment, for jobs in the future and we're very excited
01:25about the change that we can bring.
01:26And how quickly do you want to hit the ground running on this?
01:28Immediately!
01:29So the work of the Labour government hopefully starts tomorrow.
01:32I, as the new Labour MP, will be working straight away and, you know, we've waited too long
01:37for this change and the change needs to start soon but we know it's not going to be easy.
01:41We have been left with a really difficult environment but Labour is determined to make
01:45a change that people can feel.
