British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Friday (July 5) conceded defeat in the national election, saying that the opposition Labour Party had won.

Rishi retained his Richmond and Northallerton seat in parliament but lost power in the government following a landslide victory by the Labour Party.

00:30and at the polling stations today.
00:32You make our democracy possible.
00:34I'd also like to thank the police
00:35who've ensured that we can conduct this ballot
00:37here in North Yorkshire,
00:39but also across the country in safety.
00:42On this difficult night, I'd like to express my gratitude
00:45to the people of the Richmond and North Allerton constituency
00:48for your continued support.
00:51Since I moved here a decade ago,
00:53you have made me and my family feel so at home,
00:57and I look forward to continuing to serve
00:59as your Member of Parliament.
01:01It is an enormous privilege.
01:03I'm grateful to my agent and constituency team,

01:09on the energetic and very good-natured campaigns

01:13The Labour Party has won this general election,
01:16and I have called Sir Keir Starmer
