00:00A few weeks ago, the State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was handed over by the Department of Transportation or DOTR,
00:08the programs of the agency, under the Build Better More or BBM program.
00:14That's what Ryan Lasigas reported.
00:18In the past State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,
00:22the Build Better More program of the DOTR was one of the highlights of his State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
00:28And now, the zone of the President is getting closer.
00:31Where is the DOTR in the Build Better More program where the President said 83% of this area will build roads, bridges, seaports, airports, and mass transport.
00:44Earlier, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista laid out what their agency is doing for the BBM program.
00:52He said that the DOTR is currently doing a lot of infrastructure projects, most of which came from the previous administration.
01:01The first to look at this is the continuous construction of the North-South Commuter Railway or NSCR.
01:07This is a 147-kilometer railway that runs from Clark to Calamba, Laguna.
01:13It is expected that this project will provide better transportation services that will help in the development of the economy,
01:21especially for those who are working and looking for jobs.
01:25The construction is ongoing.
01:28Our contractor is a Spanish group and we're working closely with them.
01:36So far, we're on time.
01:38When is the target completion, sir?
01:40The target completion of our North-South Commuter Railway is by 2029.
01:47Although, we're expecting that we will have partial operations by 2027.
01:54Aside from this, the construction of the first subway in the Philippines, the Metro Manila Subway Project, is ongoing.
02:02This is a 33-kilometer underground railway system that will start in Valenzuela.
02:08It has state-of-the-art train sets that can carry more than 2,000 passengers per train.
02:15As of now, the physical progress of the project is at 14 percent.
02:20It is expected that it will be fully operational by 2029.
02:24The fund for the project, which was funded by official development assistance from JICA and the government, is estimated at Php488.5 billion.
02:35One of our achievements here is that the tunnel boring machines started their operations.
02:44As of now, we have four tunnel boring machines whose operations are almost 24 hours.
02:53Within the year, it will be six.
02:56Next year, we will have up to almost 19 tunnel boring machines
03:04working 24 hours to finish the construction.
03:07Bautista also mandated the development of ports in the country,
03:11where there are already many.
03:12The change of 700 ports in the country is being made with the help of the Philippine Ports Authority.
03:17Aside from this, there are already many projects being done here,
03:22such as modernization and improvement of existing airports.
03:26One of the big projects that is expected to happen this year is the modernization of Manila International Airport.
03:33It should be done immediately so that our passengers will have a comfortable experience
03:39with the modernization of Manila International Airport.
03:44By September 13 or September 14, our private proponent will take over.
03:54They will invest almost $3 billion to improve our existing facilities in Manila International Airport.
04:05The capacity will increase from 32 million up to 62 million.
04:11This is a huge improvement.
04:14The DOTR has also been approved in the PUV Modernization Program or PUVMP.
04:20For now, the consolidation is done and the route rationalization of the DOTR continues.
