00:00The DPWH placed their projects under the Build Better More
00:06of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:09as part of their National Roads and Flood Control Projects.
00:15Ryan Lesigue is live in Central Nabalita.
00:22Angelique, more than 70 projects are under
00:26the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:33as part of the Department of Public Works and Highways of DPWH.
00:37As part of their project, Angelique,
00:40the Road Widening of National Roads and Flood Control Projects.
00:47The Department of Public Works and Highways of DPWH
00:51is on track with all of their big projects under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:57According to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonuan,
01:00there are 74 big projects that they are holding
01:04from almost 200 flagship projects of the current administration
01:08under the Build Better More or BBM program.
01:12But the main responsibility of DPWH for now
01:17is the National Roads in the whole country
01:20that can reach up to 30,000 kilometers
01:23just like the one in Daang, Maharlika.
01:25DPWH wants to widen this road
01:30because as time goes by,
01:32many parts of Daang, Maharlika are already congested.
01:37This is where President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. started.
01:46This is about 3,000 kilometers extending from Lawag,
01:50to Cagayan, Cagayan,
01:53all the way to Sambuanga City,
01:55Sambuanga Peninsula actually.
01:58This is also our priority.
02:06Many years have passed
02:10and this is the main trunk line of the Philippine National System.
02:18Angelique, the Kalihim also said that the road construction should not be delayed
02:23so that there will not be heavy traffic.
02:28As of now, we are losing I think about 3.5 billion pesos a day
02:35just because of the traffic.
02:38If we don't pay attention to this,
02:43we might lose about 5.8 billion pesos in a few more years.
02:51Angelique, DPWH is also targeting
02:53some tourism road infrastructures in various provinces in the country.
02:57In recent years, DPWH has raised 10 billion pesos
03:01per year in funding for this.
03:03DPWH is also targeting farm-to-market roads
03:08that are already reaching more than 1,000 kilometers
03:11and are already being used by farmers.
03:13Aside from road construction,
03:15natural resources for flood control programs are also moving,
03:19especially here in Metro Manila.
03:21In fact, Angelique, the National Capital Region
03:24has raised more than 21.2 billion pesos
03:27for the 355 flood control projects.
03:30Rehabilitation is also underway
03:32for the previous projects
03:34to maintain its proper function for flood control.
03:38DPWH is cooperating with the DANR
03:41and local government units to clean the estuaries.
03:45DPWH Angelique hopes that President Marcos' dream
03:49of making the Philippines a powerhouse in Asia
03:52through the construction of new roads
03:55and other infrastructure projects in the country will come true.
04:00This is continuing.
04:02And this is what I said earlier,
04:05I think one area that we are focusing on now
04:09is to provide water impounding projects
04:12alongside with our flood control programs
04:15so that we can use the impounded water
04:21during the dry season
04:23so that we can support the irrigation facilities.
04:28Angelique, when it comes to the expansion of roads,
04:32especially the National Roads,
04:35or what you mentioned earlier,
04:37the Daang Maharlika,
04:39DPWH's target is to make four lanes
04:42for all the National Roads
04:44so that the heavy traffic can be reduced
04:46because DPWH knows that it is really important
04:50that the travels will not be delayed
04:54because it will also help the country's economy.
04:58Angelique.
04:59Okay, thank you very much, Ryan Lasigas.
