The Great North 10k gets underway on Newcastle's Central Motorway

Organised by the same company behind the Great North Run, the Great North 10k takes place every summer and sees runners work their way around Newcastle city centre before finishing back at the Town Moor. Organisers say 6,000 runners attempted the course on Sunday morning.
