00:00No one should be making these dangerous boat crossings. This is undermining our
00:04border security as well as having lives being put at risk. But that's why we have
00:08to have a major upgrade in law enforcement and I have immediately
00:12started the work on that in the Home Office. That includes the recruitment of
00:16a new border security commander, the establishment of a new border security
00:21command and also the recruitment of new cross-border police including to work
00:25right across Europe to tackle this problem at source. We want to make
00:30progress as rapidly as possible in getting the law enforcement arrangements
00:33in place. We do inherit a problem from the Conservatives where border crossings
00:39have gone up in the first half of this year and that's why the law enforcement
00:43is so important because these criminal gangs are
00:47getting away with it. They are undermining border security and they
00:50are putting lives at risk and that's why the new border security command is so
00:54important and we want to see progress as swiftly as possible.
