Transcript
00:00My name's Wayne Smurgeon, I'm representing the Hastings Liberty Rodeo Club as a director of the new complex.
00:06My name's John Thomas, I'm representing Taree as a director of the new complex.
00:12I'm very happy to see such a large crowd here today, there's a lot of interest in this track.
00:18We think, we're not sure on an opening date, but we're getting closer and closer.
00:25The future of this club is probably just around the corner, and I think it'll be very, very good for Greyhound people.
00:34On behalf of the Warhawk part of it, it's great to see it being opened up here on the area, bringing the three clubs together as one.
00:43This morning showing what people think of it, there's a massive roll up to have a meeting and to induct our life members to the new complex.
00:53It's going to take a lot of travelling out for the trainers at the present time, over the last six months, and a lot of money's been spent in fuel by the trainers.
01:01Sure, people are hot under the collar with the driving we've had to do, but now we're only in our final month or so away from having this new complex opened up.
01:10And the meetings that we're going to have, I think it's around 80 meetings we've pre-promised for the first year, which is a massive thing for the Mid North Coast and New South Wales.
01:19And the trainers, all they can do now is talk positive of this. It's going to be unbelievable once it's opened up and running.
01:27So on behalf of the outside of Warhawk, and I know John's the same, he's excited, yeah, it's only looking forward to seeing the new complex up and running.
01:36Hello, my name's Kim and I work at the Taree Greyhound track in the bar. I've been here for 18 years.
01:43We're here for a meeting today and there's a lot of people that's turned up, which is really great.
01:49The track is looking so good, the boys have worked so hard, and we just can't wait to get back. We're counting the days down.
01:58And this is Kelly, she's worked at the track for almost 10 years. She was our ticket box operator.
02:05And they knocked down the ticket box, so we came over and we put a little rose down for the loss of the ticket box from all those years.
02:14So as you're aware, Greyhound New South Wales have come in. They're pretty much in control of the facility at the moment.
02:23Through their help, they've allowed myself and a few others a little bit of access to help with a few decisions being made with the project.
02:37So myself, John, Wayne, Sam, we've all made a few decisions around the project with Tony's input.
02:45Tony's the project manager hired by Greyhound Racing New South Wales.
02:49He's pretty much controlled all decisions, but gone through the board with making those decisions.
02:55So pretty much anything that you see here has been a decision made by the project manager in conjunction with the board members.
03:02Spent their money on racing facilities, so it's pretty much the racing kennels.
03:08So the kennel block, the tower, and the infrastructure on the track, Greyhound New South Wales have funding for that.
03:15But pretty much anything outside the boundary of the fence, the club's tried to get the facility up to a standard where we feel people coming in to visit the new track will be happy with what the upgrade's all about.
03:29So we try to spend our money the best that we feel we can to try and get the facility looking and working the best that it can.
