00:00450 fast qualifier power by Kroger today was chase Sexton. It wasn't just the fact that
00:05he was fastest, it was the gap. Nearly a second and a half over everyone else.
00:09His second fastest lap was still good enough for the number one position. This doesn't
00:14come as a surprise. This guy should have a lot of confidence right now. One of his toughest
00:19competitors going down. This is going to be an interesting moto right here. Interesting
00:24weekend. I think he's in a situation where he's got to get it done this weekend and it's
00:29got to be defiant. Okay. So we'll keep an eye on that number four. And it's him versus
00:36Hunter Lawrence presumably for this title with Jet Lawrence out. A couple other riders
00:40like Justin Cooper, Aaron Plesinger, Jason Anderson are lurking. But we are ready to
00:45race for 30 minutes and two laps here at Redmond. Sexton did not get a good jump. That is Hunter
00:56Lawrence on the outside. And he has the motorsport.com hole shot. Hunter Lawrence on the 96. Aaron
01:03Plesinger on the 7 looking to make the pass to the lead. They're side by side.
01:07Aaron got a really good run out of that corner. Number 7 on that red bull KTM. Almost made
01:13a move by Hunter Lawrence for the lead. These next couple corners are going to be really
01:20important for Hunter to establish and keep this lead. If he's able to do that, build
01:24a little gap from himself. And the number four of chase Sexton. It's going to be huge.
01:32Four hole shots and 11 starts this year for Hunter Lawrence. He has been great off the
01:36line. Sexton has struggled. Aaron Plesinger going back after Hunter Lawrence for the lead.
01:43See this racetrack right now. The track crew have smoothed some of the lines out coming
01:47down the hills or around the corners. So a lot of these guys are going to be able to
01:52go fast and carry a really good pace. And as this track begins to get rougher, that
01:56will separate the field a little bit, make it a little bit easier to make up position
02:01because these riders will be able to change their lines because of that, because of the
02:06track getting rougher. Also, how much has the track changed for these riders since the
02:10last time they saw it? It's different in motocross with dirt. It changes rapidly. They have not
02:15been out here for a couple of hours. As far as it being rough compared to what it was
02:18like in qualifying practice, I feel like it's similar. But the biggest change, I would
02:23say, in my opinion, from what I can tell here is that the dirt is becoming a little bit
02:27drier, which is going to make the track a bit harder and not as soft.
02:32Let's see who can adjust. You just saw that. 120 feet in distance. LaRocco's lead. Hunter
02:37Lawrence over it. No problem. And we'll see how the older brother, it had been a two against
02:43one. Both Lawrence brothers battling Chase Sexton early in this championship. Crowd comes
02:47to life. Now it's up to Hunter to try to win this title for his team, Honda HRC.
02:53Well, Hunter Lawrence, number 96, getting good starts all season long, J.T. And that
03:00has really been his strong suit, in my opinion, and has given him the opportunity to put in
03:06these fantastic rides as he's doing right now.
03:10Sexton up to third. J.T., what do you think in there on the 96? J.T., in a second, Sexton
03:19made a couple of moves. He got around Justin Cooper, and you can see him at the bottom
03:22of the screen on the number 4. And Plessiger hanging top as well. Those are the KTM Red
03:27Bull teammates.
03:28A lot of racing left to go here right now, and a lot like what we saw in the 250 race,
03:34we just like, as this track gets rougher, guys that are really strong and have a ton
03:38of fitness, like chase Sexton, he's one of the best guys in this field as far as physical
03:44fitness, this race will kind of come to him. The guys in front of him will come to him.
03:48So he doesn't really need to go ride overboard right now and override it, J.T.
03:53Yeah, for Hunter Lawrence, I think you really have to lean into your strengths, and it's
03:57exactly that. It's the start, and it's these early laps, the pace he's had and the gap
04:02he's been able to build up. Even if he hasn't been able to sustain it, he really needs to
04:06focus on that, try to get away from chase Sexton where chase is not in his frontal view
04:11past the halfway point. And Hunter's done such a fantastic job of making sure that the
04:15things he's good at don't mess those things up. So he's setting a strong pace here. But
04:20what I'll be watching for when we get to the halfway point, is chase Sexton close enough
04:24where that carrot is dangling in front of him? Because chase is so fit, and if you allow
04:29him to utilize his strength, he will overcome, and he will win this moto.
04:33One thing about Hunter Lawrence that I really like about his racing and how he races is
04:37he's extremely pragmatic, and he really focuses on what he needs to do. He doesn't get wrapped
04:43up in what everyone else is going to do. You know what? If he goes out there and he tries
04:47his hardest and the best that he can do is third, he's happy with that. He can't control
04:52what everyone else does, and I feel like at the pinnacle of smx and motocross, that was
04:57a close one. At the pinnacle series in class, you have to have that mindset. You go out
05:03and do you. The rest is going to shake out how it's going to, and I like that from Hunter
05:08Lawrence, and I feel like this is the reason, one of the reasons that he's in the position
05:12he is holding that red plate.
05:14And he is a rookie in the 450 class. Last year's 250 class champion. Now, sometimes
05:19you do get involved in other riders' races, and here's a collision early in this race.
05:25Nicoletti going down.
05:27Phil Nicoletti. Hate that for Phil. There's nowhere that he could go. Actually, Ferrandez
05:32got knocked around by another rider and put him off into the same line that Phil Nicoletti
05:37was going, and that's what caused the collision.
05:40Nicoletti in 38th place in a 40-rider field. As we focus back in on Hunter Lawrence, 24
05:47years old. He is the older brother of Jett, but he had a lot of injuries early in his
05:51career, so that's why Jett ended up moving to the big bikes before he won last year's
05:55title. And now Hunter has moved up, and he might be able to be the 450 champion. As for
06:01Jett, he announced to his fans on Instagram the status of that thumb injury.
06:06What's up, guys? Yeah, a little bit of s*** happens. Been a while, 24 hours lately. We
06:16flew from Tampa to Denver. Went and got surgery. Surgery went well. I ended up tearing my UCL
06:23and fracturing a bone in my thumb. Not ideal. I was really looking forward to this championship
06:29fight with my brother, Hunter and Chase, but I've been pretty lucky. I've won seven championships
06:37with no very major injuries, so I've got to count myself lucky. It's been coming, I feel
06:43like, with our sport. But no, just super thankful for the love and support. The team
06:49and sponsors. It was really kind of fun for them. But no, I'm coming this weekend to Red
06:54Bud so I can do all the photos, all the signatures, and finally relax a little bit and enjoy it.
06:59But no, thanks for the love, guys, and I'll see you in Red Bud.
07:03Well, Johnny O'Mara, you've worked with the Lawrences for the past five years, and this
07:08had to be a really difficult week with Jett Lawrence's injury. Can you talk a little bit
07:13about what that was like, what the time frame for his recovery is, what the training that
07:17he will try to maintain as we look towards Supermotocross World Championship playoffs,
07:22and how you can get him back to his best form in September?
07:25Yeah, well, we jumped right on it. The injury was on Tuesday, the first day back riding
07:31for Jett, and then he just had a little tip over and put the left hand out, and sure enough,
07:37he gets that thumb injury similar to what Eli did or Cooper Webb. So he flew on Wednesday up
07:45to Vail and had the same doctor do his procedure Thursday morning, and he's out here today in a
07:52cast, but it's all on the healing recovery mode right now. Eight weeks without if he did anything,
08:00so we'll probably try to speed it up a little bit with our team of therapists and people we
08:07have in the medical field, but yeah, we're all disappointed. It was like a gut check. You know,
08:12he had a few good weeks, and all I can say is I like seeing Hunter doing what he's doing right
08:19now, and it's pretty cool that we have two guys that are running for the championship. Unfortunately,
08:25Jett, we'll have to wait and watch him later in the year.
08:28Thanks, Johnny. We'll send it to Will Christian.
08:29Thanks, JT. Thanks, Johnny. Ricky, I just want to pose a question to you here,
08:34because Jett Lawrence, Hunter's younger brother being missing, yes, changes things as far as the
08:40championship goes and the points too, but it changes the dynamic as well out on the track,
08:44and I asked both Chase Exson and Hunter Lawrence's dad, Daddy, as they call him,
08:49about that situation, and both said, yeah, that's going to alter things. Chase said,
08:53well, he feels like they boost each other out there, so he's like, if I've just got one guy
08:56to focus on, maybe that's going to make life a little bit easier for me, and Daddy's opinion
09:01on it was if Hunter doesn't have Jett out there, like, setting a fast pace potentially ahead of
09:07him, it may allow him to set his own pace, which might mean that perhaps we don't see him struggling
09:13there in later laps, so what's your thought on all that? Well, I think that all that sounds great,
09:18but now we're in the moment, so how is he going to react, and it sounds good, so let's see
09:23if that actually plays out, but I want to go back to Johnny O'Mara. That guy is a motocross
09:28champion in his own right, supercross champion. He's worked with the best. He mentored me through
09:32my whole professional career, along with James Stewart. You name it, he's worked with some of
09:37the best guys ever, and I like his approach. He's realistic. He doesn't sugarcoat everything,
09:43of course. Like he said, it's a gut check, but we talked after the procedure, because I'm very
09:48close with Johnny O'Mara, and I told Johnny, and he kind of agreed with me, I think that this
09:53injury may be a blessing in disguise for Jett. When you talk about Jett, he even said it,
09:57seven championships with no hiccups. Now, things are happening so fast. Now, you are real, okay,
10:04and this sport can get you. Now, I think this might give him some more longevity, because things
10:09are happening so fast. Maybe this is an opportunity for him to pump the brakes and say, okay,
10:15analyze things and just get back to reality, if you will. So, sometimes things happen for a
10:21reason, and that's what I think. I think this is actually a good thing for him, unfortunately,
10:26though, even though he's hurt. And we do expect, with the timeline Johnny O'Mara laid out,
10:30that he will be back for the playoffs of this sport September 7th, when the supermoto cross
10:34world championship plays out its final three rounds, and that will be interesting to see
10:38what condition he's in by then, as we watch this battle, Sexton catching Plessinger,
10:43and it's very intriguing not to have Jett in this field. How will Hunter Lawrence play it?
10:48So far, it has been great, but Chase Sexton is strong in the second half of these races.
11:13All right. While we're in break on NBC, enjoy the sights and sounds of red
11:22blood in this great battle as Chase Sexton takes second place away.
11:43So
12:13uh
12:43what you're gonna
13:03do
13:13so
13:29so
13:43thank you
13:51so
14:09welcome back to red button the supermoto cross world championship this is the battle everyone
14:14anticipated two riders fighting for the pro moto cross title and they are one and two on the
14:20racetrack hunter lawrence out of australia the leader and a local product grew up about two hours
14:25from here chase sexton here on the number four closing from second and we went to break he took
14:31second place away from his red bull ktm teammate aaron plessinger we can show you the pass yeah
14:36this is the corner right before the sand rollers and watch the number four just putting the power
14:40to the ground keeping that rear tire on the ground early on to get a good drive to carry
14:46that momentum and build that speed early to eventually make the pass over his teammate
14:51number seven there on the red bull ktm aaron plessinger that was a good job good great pass
14:57by chase sexton now he is going to have to put in some quick laps here try to close the gap here
15:04on hunter lawrence jt because they're running out of time well there was so much talk this week and
15:10wondering how would these riders respond to the absence of jet lawrence and for chase sexton he's
15:16doing exactly what i thought he should do which is gain an air of confidence gain an air of calm
15:22with the understanding that he now could be considered the best rider in the class and that
15:27doesn't mean you have to lead every single lap it just means you have to put yourself into good
15:30situations let the race unfold and close on the riders in front of you which is he doing he's
15:35doing right here and every time he's been in this situation late in these races he has been the
15:40strongest guy and i promise you that no one knows that more than these two riders we're watching
15:45right now well thank you jt yes and they're about to take full measure of each other now we're at
15:50the halfway mark of the moto reminder that monster energy is available now at kroger what was once
15:57ricky a 2.8 second lead for hunter lawrence is down to 0.8 sexton on the chart and that's not a
16:03surprise and the reason that i say that is you go back to chase sexton i mean almost two seconds
16:09faster than anyone in the field and qualifying practice and speed is his thing when you're
16:13comparing him to hunter lawrence however hunter lawrence is just so mentally sound and again i go
16:20back to being pragmatic he does his own thing he races his own race yes the number four of chase
16:26sexton is catching him but he's going to go out there and just hit his laps that's what you have
16:31to do at this level if you have the speed to win you're going to win if not take your second places
16:37and uh but this is the part of the race where because the number four of chase sexton is so
16:42strong physically he'll be able to make up some time here well we talked about how consistent
16:47hunter lawrence has been and that he only races against the track and himself little mistake there
16:52but how difficult is it to actually execute that game plan when the pressure is being applied like
16:58talking about it is one thing executing it is is a completely other thing just like any sport that
17:04you go to but i just want to talk about how incredible these athletes are some of the
17:09gnarliest athletes in the world muscling around these 225 you know pound motorcycles and and what
17:17they're able to do and maneuver these bikes is absolutely incredible absolutely incredible is
17:23this the 120 foot larocco's leap and sexton clears it hunter does not and he closes back to
17:30the rear wheel yeah great job by the drone showing our viewers just the time gap that you lose for
17:36the time that you lose by not being able to do larocco's leap is a crucial part of the track
17:42that you have to execute it oh the fans anticipating the battle that's brewing now
17:47oh
17:52sexton versus lawrence sexton has a wheel on the inside not quite close enough rc
17:57not close enough right here but chase sexton has a huge time gap on or the
18:02advance speed advantage on hunter lawrence so he doesn't need to push it right here he can
18:09let this pass unfold on its own and trust me it will you have to maybe find some alternate lines
18:16go inside or outside like this drone shot right here watch how chase will take a different line
18:21a little further inside you'll gain a little time in the corner but doesn't get a good drive coming
18:26out of the corner are some of these lines to set up passes or just to show them a wheel just to
18:31keep pressure on it can be both it can be both for sure show show your competitor a wheel show
18:37them that you're there maybe distract him a little bit but also maybe try to make a move as well
18:43big downhill section here maybe the biggest bumps downhill on this track jt you talked about this
18:50earlier today that you thought because of the position that chase sexton is in that you thought
18:56he needed to come out here and absolutely dominate well i just think he needs to do what he does which
19:02is lean into his strength much like hunter at the beginning rely on your fitness rely on where you
19:07know you're the strongest which he's done i felt it was so critical for him to have hunter lawrence
19:13in his sights at the halfway point if he could do that i think the rest will take care of itself
19:18and i think that brings about that sense of calm where he can lower his heart rate and trust you
19:22know it's such a cliche but trusting the process past that halfway point will get you a long way
19:27wow we're running out of time here again as this track wears on and we get later into this race
19:33this track will continue to get rougher and rougher coming into the corners the breaking
19:37bumps you won't be able to carry as much speed it's going to take more strength to do that and
19:42i like how that plays into chase sexton's hands because he is so strong however he did not jump
19:50the big larocco's leap and hunter has begun to stretch it back out a little bit jt yeah and you
19:54think about the fitness ask that these riders are going through now for the average person
19:59go out you're going for a run you're going for a bicycle ride get your heartbeat up to
20:03180 beats a minute and then try to hold it for the next 35 minutes while wrestling a motorcycle
20:09around red butt that's what these guys are going through and i think it's really deceiving they
20:13make it look so easy but the fitness test that these riders are going through week in and week
20:18out is just something that most people will never ever confront yeah a lot of these riders they've
20:23been doing it for a long time too from four to four to five years old but what the people do
20:29not see is these riders like jason thomas was talking about heart rate at 180 these guys are
20:34doing this minimum two times a week practicing during the week two to three times a week doing
20:40race simulations trying to hone in on their crafts improve each week to try to get that main goal win
20:46races win championships so it's just not here where they're having to risk it and ride in those
20:52heart rate zones it's during the week as well and it pays off when you get battles like this
20:57hunter lawrence your leader at the top of the screen the third place fight
21:00is between aaron plessinger out of ohio and new york's justin cooper
21:06in fourth you can see cooper with the blue and white jersey everybody has some sort of american
21:11flag type motif on the gear this weekend and he is making it tough on plessinger to hold on the
21:16third wheel we had conversations didn't we jason ricky jt during the week we said there's kind of
21:23going to be an open spot on the podium as far as motos and overalls go and there's going to be
21:27three guys really up front fighting for that and we see them there aaron plessinger justin cooper
21:33jason anderson in three four and five they're in position and they are going to be fighting for
21:38this when i spoke to each individual team they made it very clear that they are aware that this
21:43is an opportunity they all want to capitalize on it but something specifically the jeremy coca there
21:48over at yamaha star racing said to me said i told justin forget that forget all about it he said
21:55pretend like jet's still out there pretend that this battle is still the same because remember
21:59everybody else is thinking what you're thinking too and they're trying to grab a podium spot
22:04well he just went out and grabbed it he not only got inside of plessinger but he also jumped
22:10the big 120 foot larocco's leap to get third one reason he was able to do that larocco's leap
22:16basically beside aaron plessinger number one is those yzf 450s are known to have a lot of
22:22horsepower and justin cooper is one of the smaller 450 riders out of the group so so he has a lighter
22:29weight advantage and that bike complementing his lightweight so cooper up to third up front hunter
22:36lawrence responding to the challenge he threw down a 208 lap now sexton has matched it but he'll have
22:41to go back to work and make up two seconds
23:01all right for our fans here on peacock at the smx video pass enjoy the sounds
23:05of the brewing battle hunter lawrence and chase sexton at redbud
23:35so
23:52oh
24:06so
24:22i think
24:36so
24:45what
25:06so
25:25stretch run pro motocross and super motocross world championship from redbud you see the blue
25:31that is the race leader hunter lawrence he had lap traffic to deal with chase sexton got close
25:37sexton on his own problems and they reset with about 10 minutes and two laps to go well it's
25:42like a yo-yo right now this is that point of the race where you can really rely on your fitness
25:47at the same time you have to be crafty with your lines remember we talked about the later we get
25:52into this race the rougher it's going to get you have to be open to finding a line that is smoother
25:58faster that's going to work for you and hunter has responded pulling back away
26:05bottom box going to show you brock tickle looking to make a move on shane macarath and he shoots by
26:10tickle has not raced in this championship since 2020 he's actually a test rider from
26:15monster kawasaki made the move want to come back to racing welcome back brock he just got punted
26:21by macarath he did that's incredible for incredible for a guy like brock tickle
26:26that has been off of racing for three years to come back and do as well as he's doing and that's
26:32going to be a good i think this is a positive for that monster energy kawasaki race team to be able
26:37to test this motorcycle in a race situation true test right now ricky for hunter lawrence got the
26:43motorcycle sideways sexton has caught back up four minutes now and two laps to go oh
26:49oh lap traffic has been a factor here as for hunter lawrence he is again a rookie in this
26:56class trying to win the race and this championship we'll talk to his crew about that that's right
27:03it's easy to forget that he's a rookie because his younger brother in his rookie year did not
27:08lose a moto all of last year but if we take that out of it and we get the conversation
27:15that made his job if we take that out of it if we take his younger brother's side
27:19look at hunter's season it has been phenomenal incredibly impressive now if you try to speak
27:25to hunter about it as we know he'll slightly dismiss it i'll put it to one side because he
27:29doesn't want to focus on it i got the chance to talk to his dad about it and just straight out
27:33ask him how impressed are you and he said oh incredibly this is not where i expected him to be
27:39he has surpassed all my expectations and he's clearly very proud of him he said he's got the
27:43speed to hang with these guys and that's incredibly important that massive takeaways for
27:48the family yes thank you will he has been on the podium at all but one moto this year where he
27:53finished fourth that is incredible consistency for his first year and that's a big adjustment
27:58to the bigger motorcycle well it is it's a huge adjustment i mean imagine you know college
28:02football versus nfl speed size things happen different yes hunter is older than his brother
28:09and older than chase sexson but that doesn't matter i like these bikes are different they
28:15race different they react different and i don't think age means as much as it does just not having
28:22race experience on these bikes at this level there's a whole bunch of lap traffic at the top
28:28of the screen it's lawrence in red of the 96 and then sexton lawrence going to try to get around
28:33this lap rider on the inside listen to this crowd because sexton is closed back in
28:41sexton gets around the lap rider then lawrence and sexton pass the next one
28:47so much traffic what is this like to deal with in a battle well i mean think about being in
28:52a traffic jam and you're blocked in trying to make it through a light before it turns red
28:57and you're just trapped and you have heat behind you just someone on your six and you can't make a
29:02move and you're trying to get away that's what it's like right here oh by the way your heart
29:07rate like jason thomas was telling us is 100 and you're having the whole breath because you have
29:12little rocks coming at you at 50 mile an hour just pelting you yeah and you're exactly right
29:18for chase sexson he's lost his front visor so every time he would pull up onto the back of
29:22hunter lawrence he would dip his head and use that front visor to block that roost he doesn't have
29:27that anymore you see him pulling tear offs there so that may be a critical factor here he's not
29:32going to have that visor to block the roost so every time he pulls up there all that dirt is
29:35going to go right into his goggles now well it's really tough to like jason thomas is telling us
29:40when it's going yo-yo like this if you're jet if you're hunter lawrence you get you're like okay i
29:45have a little gap right here i think i can maintain this to the finish line and then the next thing you
29:49know you get hung up by a lapper and then chase sexson closes the gap and he's all over you
29:55these laps feel like they are an absolute eternity
30:00there's the lap times lower left rc sexton a little bit quicker than hunter lawrence
30:05than last time around we'll see the lap times in a moment at the end of this one but more important
30:10than that the countdown clock upper left 40 seconds away from the two laps to go board so
30:16sexton has to make something happen now yeah it is whoa it's time to go look at all the lappers
30:22up there chase these guys aren't going to be able to jump the larocco's leap it's it's let's
30:30give you the motorsport.com whole shot replay here real fast great launch by hunter lawrence
30:35with the blue and white jersey there he's in the lead going into the corner first corner swings it
30:40wide keeps his momentum up the number seven of plessinger tries to get him and close him out
30:45squeeze him out for that position and then watch aaron plessinger up he went to the inside and
30:51there it is two to go clock has expired lawrence with a nine tenths of a second gap over sexton
30:58sets it on the four you can barely tell that ruse jt was talking about the dirt has completely
31:03covered the front of the number four machine the grit that these guys have especially a guy like
31:08chase sexton i mean he has been in a tough spot all race long it is much harder to do what chase
31:15sexton is doing compared to hunter lawrence hunter lawrence basically has clean air and we go back to
31:21what it's like to be coming from behind like chase sex and he's just getting absolutely pelted
31:26holding his breath at times brutal
31:33one thing about it at number four chase sexton will not give up again one of the strongest guys
31:39in the class from a physical standpoint extremely strong cardiovascular cardio hunter lawrence goes
31:48for a ride and down hard on the downhill sexton has taken the lead can he get back up and recover
31:57oh that was a big hit that is a tough tough spot to go down so much force driving you to the ground
32:04now a lot of these riders are the riders they had already left the question is how many positions on
32:09the actual racetrack lead lap has he lost because that will affect the championship standings and how
32:14quickly can he recover physically from that hit oh we're gonna have to see right here i'm just
32:20watching his attitude the attitude and his body language on the bike that was a really tough
32:27impact and a bad spot to go down here's a replay for him coming down everything starts to go
32:34sideways his hand comes off the handlebar he loses control the back of the bike swapping from the left
32:41to the right there's another view left hand side of your screen watch how it steps out and as it
32:49steps out then his front end goes sideways and his right side of his hand falls off the uh handlebar
32:55jt yeah you're exactly right it was that first mistake that threw his body language off then
33:01the most critical moment of this is his right hand flips off which gives him all that leverage
33:06and then he's along for the ride and unfortunately coming down a hill that that's rough you literally
33:09have no chance of staying upright landing on that left side of his body fairly hard you have to watch
33:15him justin cooper has caught hunter lawrence after lawrence has gotten back up but the gap
33:23is down to nearly nothing this is championship points at play hunter has to dig so deep right now
33:29100% racer update on justin cooper started fourth made his way around placing her for third has a
33:37shot at the number two position keep in mind another rookie here that you're watching with
33:41number 32 and that monster energy star racing yamaha justin cooper and he's done a great job
33:47he's kind of sneaky he's quiet you never know he's really there and then boom he's in the third
33:51position do it having a great rookie season i want to ask you we were talking so much about fitness
33:58and the high heart rate we were past the 30 minute mark is fatigue sometimes what leads to
34:04those types of errors well certainly i mean you start to lose the strength not holding on as tight
34:10maybe you're not thinking quite as clear maybe you're racing and worrying about what's behind
34:14you not in front of you i don't suspect that would be the case from hunter lawrence i could
34:19possibly be wrong that's for sure but uh yeah i mean strength comes into a play and as you're
34:25losing strength the track is getting rougher because so much time has expired within this race
34:31so sex did a huge lead this is the battle justin cooper trying to get back around hunter lawrence
34:40and you can see the conclusion of today's race day on peacock or the smx video pass outside the
34:45united states everyone will come back for a second moto in little over an hour and hunter's going to
34:51have to go into recovery mode later but right now he's got to focus on this final lap i really hate
34:56that for for hunter lawrence i mean you think about it just riding an absolutely perfect race
35:02doing ex executing the race exactly how he probably wanted to do it putting chase sexton
35:10in a position to where he has to go out there make moves take chances to get into the lead and he did
35:17chase sexton takes the moto win that was clutch down the stretch to best hunter lawrence but
35:25hunter showing how tough he is it appears he will hold off justin cooper there is the 96
35:32big crash at all manages to recover and hold on to second cooper third man you just incredible
35:41ride by sexton i mean this isn't surprising this is his first win here by the way it's his
35:47home track but does not have a great record at this facility right he's never won a moto before
35:51had a couple of seconds this guy right here incredible athlete look at talked about those uh
35:58those heart rates don't even look like he's tired get here right there he's like it's so hard to
36:02pass which really it's tough the reason it's tough these guys are so good at what they do
36:09and they take the preferred line so that's why it's hard to make a move when your competitor
36:14that's a similar speed taking the line that you want to take oh let's hope this guy's okay
36:22physically so he can still challenge
36:32and there's the scene see how much dirt by the way they are covered with as you were talking about
36:37all that dirt from the rear wheels of the motorcycles in front of him
36:41this this sport is so unforgiving
36:46yes it was gone in an instant for hunter lawrence who really wanted to win that moto it shows
