Self Defence Episode:7 Self Defence with Kru Hemanth Kumar - Defending the Bear Hug

It’s amazing how our bodies have so many pain points that we aren’t aware of. Now, when somebody comes at you directly and forces a bear hug (not in a friendly way), you have the time to run or defend yourself. To take this up a notch, how would you react if an attacker gives you a tight bear hug, but from behind? What if they lock your arms too? Could you imagine the panic that would set in when your entire upper body is locked? Scary if you think of it!
Here’s the good news – there is a way out. When you strike the point approximately four fingers above the ankle, it can rattle any attacker or even get them unconscious. For maximum impact, when the attacker holds you from behind, instead of panicking, lift your heel up and strike the part of the attacker’s ankle (exactly four fingers above the ankle). This stuns the attacker and loosens their grip. Now, as soon as you notice their head drop below your shoulder, use your elbow, and strike their face – a lethal combination!
