00:00Circles because Kaitlyn Clark is still a massive favorite to win Rookie of the Year and
00:05Angel Reese who was once about 20 to 1 is now about 3 or 4 to 1 so there has been some movement
00:10But not you know, they're not viewed as equals in terms of winning despite how much noise people are making about Angel Reese
00:15Where do you this could be betting this could just be you watching both players. Where do you come down on this?
00:19I
00:20Mean, I think if the game is actually if you've been watching it's starting to slow down even more and more for them
00:25And we just saw Kaitlyn drop a triple-double against. Yeah, New York
00:28Yeah, I should I mean they pulled it up following it was yeah, so that was that was Saturday, right?
00:32So Angel Reese had a huge game then they were like asking Kaitlyn Clark about it
00:36they both made the all-star team then Clark had the triple-double and was asked about like that talked about it after the game and then
00:42Reese broke the double-double record yesterday, which is like I pray
00:45I mean, that's a pretty crazy three or four days and like a sport that's trying to get a lot of attention
00:48I really feel weird about the award because like look there there seems to be some racial lines drawn if you if you're watching
00:55Twitter and how
00:58But um, you know it is like I don't have a problem with either one I'm winning it
01:02I would still give Kaitlyn the edge just because like people want to bring up their shooting percentage
01:06Kaitlyn's a guard shooting more outside. We didn't see Angel
01:09I think last game shoot a three and knock it down. So her games gonna extend
01:13But when you're looking at their shooting percentage, it's no way to go
01:15I didn't like how Monica even if you thought Angel Reese was the the rookie of the year
01:20She was talking about their records. I'm like, what does that have to do with anything? It's about the individual player
01:24They're both on terrible teams, you know, and now I think Kaitlyn's team has a better record than hers
01:29So right I do think the edge should go to Kaitlyn
01:31She's filling up the statute across the board and then for the naysayers about Angel Reese
01:36All she does is miss layups and rebound it still difficult to rebound those damn balls and get him
01:41You could see it double doubles and 13 consecutive games to me. It's still impressive
01:45I don't know if I gave you an answer
01:46I would go Kaitlyn Clark, but I do think it's a lot closer and I would not have a problem with either one of
01:51Them winning it
01:52No, I think it's a I mean if people be like, oh, well there wasn't really like a betting take there
01:56I think it's a very reasonable answer
01:58I think a lot of people probably feel like how you feel where it's like, hey, they're both really good
02:01Like this isn't that one is bad
02:03Just that it seems like the things that Kaitlyn Clark does are more impressive now where this becomes interesting to me
02:10So I like just personally like me watching basketball watching the players
02:13I agree with you
02:14Like I agree with what you're saying and I think she should win
02:18She being Clark and if they if both players continue playing this way, I think Clark should win
02:23But there's there's just a really there's a rule with awards and I don't know if we have to start following this rule with this
02:29one, but we might and
02:31It's the rule is essentially like when the voters tell you what they're going to do
02:35Just listen to them. Just listen if they all knocked on your door. We did this with with con Smythe with Connor McDavid
02:4118 days ago or whatever when I was actually still working on the show when the Panthers hadn't won the Stanley Cup and we were
02:46We did this exercise all the time with awards on the show
02:49We just go if the voters all knocked on your door and they said like, uh, hello
02:53We're the voters for this case. We're the voters for WNBA rookie of the year
02:56We just wanted to let you know that as a consensus
02:59We're going to vote for Angel Reese now rather than run to bet all of your money on Angel Reese
03:04There would be people that would be like, well, that's stupid. Why are you bet?
03:07Why are you voting for Kaitlyn Clark be like who cares? They're like they're telling you what they're doing telegraphing their their decision
03:15We're not there yet with this one
03:18Many there's actually not that many people that vote for WNBA MVP, which is pretty crazy
03:22We don't have a like a good cross-section of how they feel about or a rookie of the year. Excuse me
03:26We don't have a good cross-section of how they feel about this race and the people that are gonna talk
03:31The loudest are gonna be probably more contrarian and talk about Angel Reese
03:35so like the loudest voices are gonna actually probably be the
03:38minority in terms of where the voting is gonna go because they're gonna try to drum up support for somebody who they feel is behind
03:44right now and
03:46It's just it's you could see this coming though where it's this this entire this like two-year
03:53dynamic of these two players and college basket women's college basketball and now the
03:59WNBA and there's just a lot of dumb opinions out there
04:03Really dumb opinions. Would it really surprise anyone?
04:08if we get to the end of the year and this is why I say look like I
04:11Agree with you if I had a vote right now
04:15I would probably vote for Kaitlyn Clark because I think her
04:18Contributions to her team are slightly more impressive than Angel Reese's all also good contributions to her team
04:24but like if it's close as in like one
04:28Statistically is not light years ahead of the other one. And the thing is they do totally different things
04:33So you're almost never gonna get that like Angel Reese is always gonna look like a different player
04:37In terms of what she does on the court than Kaitlyn Clark is gonna look like
04:40So if you get to the end and they're just both compelling, you know, we play a 40 game WNBA season
04:46They're gonna take a break for the Olympics in about a week
04:48Okay, let's say we get to like the end of August or September when the regular season ends
04:51They play 40 games and Angel Reese has you know
04:5529 double-doubles or something something was
04:58Achievable but like a lot and Kaitlyn Clark is you know, maybe playing slightly better than she's playing right now
05:04So she's still like, you know, her true shooting is still pretty good because she shoots from way farther out and you know
05:09She's contributing. Maybe she has another triple-double or two or something like that
05:13So it's you know, there's a compelling case for both sides
05:16Would it really surprise anyone if people made what I would consider like the wrong choice and voted for somebody but cut like again
05:23Just the continuation of this two years of dumb opinion of just like it
05:27This is also and everyone's injecting themselves into it and it's all really stupid
05:31Is that much noise and clearly there's some support for Angel Reese out there
05:35Would it really be that surprising if Reese ended up winning?
05:37So this might be one Jeremy we're like if it is close
05:40I always try to think like if it's close who wins the tiebreaker like what is the tiebreaker and like is the tiebreaker?
05:46Kind of this like bizarre anti Kaitlyn Clark thing
05:49That's like seems to never go away with how she's viewed in the context of this league
05:53I at least think it's an interesting discussion for right now
05:55I don't think we know enough about the voters to know where that what they would do
05:59Even if all of us would maybe vote for Clark
06:01But I do think this has this still has the potential to be very interesting
