00:29C.G. Osawa was 70 years old when he started his academy.
00:34He was considered to be very privileged
00:38because he had great teachers like Herbert von Karajan,
00:43Leonhard Bernstein, Charles Munch.
00:46He was also the first Asian to reach this level of career.
00:51He was driven by the desire to pass on to young people
00:55what he had received from his teachers.
00:58He also had a deep conviction
01:01that in order to become a truly accomplished artist,
01:04he had to study the quartet.
01:08For one reason, which is to become a musician,
01:12you really have to listen to yourself.
01:15The quartet requires you to listen to yourself,
01:18to find your place while listening to the three others
01:21and to find a common sound.
01:23For him, this was the condition to become a musician.
01:26A musician whose career can last a long time.
01:43I think there are a lot of musicians who have gone through this,
01:47who are now trying out the international scene.
01:51As a teacher, it has brought me so much,
01:54and I think it is the legacy of Seiji Ozawa
01:58that is being passed on in Europe and around the world
02:01through all the musicians who have gone through here.
