00:00There are about 6 million Italians who have a chronic inflammatory skin disease.
00:11Dermatological conditions, both acute and chronic, can lead to social stigmatization,
00:17poor quality of life and a decrease in productivity, but also difficulties in care,
00:23from access to waiting lists to regional inequalities.
00:27Salute Equità, with the collaboration of Appiafco, the Italian psoriasic association and friends of the Corazza Foundation,
00:34compared in the Equity Group on Chronic Skin Diseases institutions, experts and politicians,
00:41identifying some fundamental steps for the care and assistance of these pathologies.
00:46It would be necessary to work fundamentally on a national level of chronicity
00:50that recognizes dermatological skin diseases as pathologies, as an object of intervention.
00:56On PDTA and dermatological networks, because this would guarantee a better access,
01:02tempestuousness, appropriateness, efficiency and effectiveness of care.
01:06Chronic inflammatory skin diseases are such because they are statistically significantly correlated
01:13also to systemic comorbidities.
01:16To cure a chronic inflammatory skin disease means to take care of the entire health situation of the patient.
01:25Now it is even more possible because there are also innovative drugs that act on various targets.
01:33The path for the diagnosis of a pathology, also chronic inflammatory skin, is quite long.
01:40First of all, you go to the pharmacist, then they go to the general medicine doctor.
01:46It clearly depends on the behavior of this general medicine doctor,
01:51if he knows the pathology well, if he realizes the severity, to immediately pass it on to a specialist.
01:57There are waiting lists, so sometimes, to have seriously diagnosed one of our pathologies,
02:05I speak of psoriasis, psoriasic arthritis, vitiligin and atopic dermatitis, sometimes it takes a long time.
02:16The clinical-assistive dermatological network can be useful as a model to organize services
02:23and give more equal and homogeneous answers.
02:26It will be very important that these regional networks for dermatological diseases
02:32are harmonized also to favor therapeutic adherence,
02:38in order to reduce waste and increase the effectiveness and safety of care.
