00:17President Marcos' third State of the Nation address.
00:20The Philippine government is shelling out 20 million pesos for President Marcos' upcoming
00:25sauna.
00:26Residents of Gaza City are asked to flee once again as Israel moves its assault back to
00:31the city.
00:32George Clooney and Nancy Pelosi raise new concerns over U.S. President Joe Biden's capacity
00:37to win the elections.
00:39And athletics and swimming take the center stage at this year's Paleron Pambansa in Cebu
00:43City.
00:46Vice President Sara Duterte says she will not attend President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s
00:51third State of the Nation address.
00:53It will be the first time for Duterte to skip the president's sauna since she assumed the
00:56vice presidency in 2022.
00:59This year, she is no longer part of the Marcos cabinet, following her resignation as education
01:04secretary in June.
01:05No, I will not attend the sauna.
01:06I am appointing myself as the designated survivor.
01:11There is no such designation in the Philippine government, but in the United States, the
01:15role is assigned to someone in the cabinet who would be brought to a secure location
01:19while the president delivers his State of the Union address.
01:23Her exit from the Marcos cabinet confirms the rift inside the Uniteam coalition forged
01:27in the 2022 elections for the Marcos-Duterte tandem.
01:32Preparations for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s third State of the Nation address or
01:37sauna are in full swing at the Batasan Pambansa, with the government spending Php20 million
01:42for the program.
01:43Online users say the amount is too much for a one-day event, especially as many Filipinos
01:48still struggle to make ends meet.
01:50House Secretary Reginald Velasco defends the budget, saying it covers a range of essential
01:55expenses from preparation to the day itself.
01:59There were renovations done at the Batasan for security measures.
02:03Bayan President Renato Reyes earlier said the event showcases tone-deaf pageantry and
02:08overkill security.
02:10Meantime, Philippine National Police Chief Romel Francisco Marbil calls on activists
02:15not to inconvenience the public with protests.
02:20An intense Israeli assault leaves Gaza City residents trapped in houses and bodies lay
02:24uncollected on the streets, this despite the U.S. pushing for a peace deal in Egypt and
02:29Qatar.
02:30Hamas says a massive Israeli assault on Gaza could wreck efforts to finally end the war
02:35just as negotiations have entered the home stretch.
02:39Gaza City was destroyed during the first weeks of the war, but thousands of Palestinians
02:43have returned to homes in the ruins.
02:45They have now once again been ordered out by the Israeli military.
02:50Despite Israel's instructions that Gaza residents can pass by safe routes, residents say they
02:54aren't leaving.
02:56Israel launched its assault on Gaza following a Hamas attack which killed 1,200 people and
03:00captured more than 250 hostages.
03:03Since then, Gaza's health ministry reports Israel has killed more than 38,000 Palestinians.
03:11Hollywood actor George Clooney and former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are the latest
03:16allies of President Joe Biden to raise concerns about his re-election chances.
03:20Clooney, a Democrat who co-hosted a fundraiser for Biden in June, withdraws his support with
03:26a damning opinion piece in the New York Times saying Biden was not the same man he was in
03:302020.
03:32Longtime Biden ally Pelosi declines to definitively express her opinion on his re-election, saying
03:37she just wants him to, quote, do whatever he decides to do because time is running short.
03:42Pelosi also encourages Democrats to hold off, saying,
03:46"...whatever you're thinking, you don't have to put that out on the table until we see
03:50how we go this week."
03:51Congressional Democrats remain divided over whether to support Biden or to urge him to
03:56step aside due to persistent questions about his health and acuity.
04:02Athletics and swimming takes center stage at Palerompambansa's medal events Thursday,
04:06July 11.
04:08Cebuana homebet Asiya Paraases sparks the medal rush as she rules the 3,000-meter run
04:13to be this year's first gold winner.
04:15Gian Kurt Cantora cinches a new boy's elementary long jump record of 6.14 meters, a big leap
04:21from the previous high mark of 6.04.
04:24In swimming, five palaro records fell in a span of four hours.
04:28Meantime, dance sport takes its share of the spotlight as host Cebu lobbied hard to make
04:33the sport a regular medal event.
04:36Multiple preliminary stages from popular sports like basketball, volleyball, and boxing
04:40also happen simultaneously alongside the medal events.
04:44Competition is only expected to heat up further in the coming days as more medal events get
04:49underway.
